Advantages: Its free!! easy to use, sends to all phones, you get a phone book! oh, have I mentioned it's free!? Disadvantages: None as such.
Textmessenger.co.uk just HAS to be the best sms site around! - mainly because its FREE!! Wohoo! You have to sign up to use it (but thats free too!) and the best thing I like about this site in comparison to other sites that have the free sms idea is the fact that you can have a "phone book" on the site - so you dont have to get your phone, route through all the numbers just to find the phone number....great idea if you ask me! Also the fact that ... ...other [Nokia] phones. Advantages: Free, easy, can be replyed to, loads of features Disadvantages: message limit
This site is a complete resource for people with mobile phones. It has ringtones, logos, SMS Horoscope, SMS games and more. As I do not have a phone I can't use it to its full potential, but they have one feature that is great. Free text messages (SMS). These are 120 letter long messages that can be send by mobile phones. I have a lot of friends with mobiles and this is a very easy way to communicate with them. They can even reply and I can read ... ...mobile this site is a good extension to it. There are lots of things to customize your phone, a huge selection of ring tones (mostly pop songs) and logos (every thing from bands, company logos, slogans, and funny pics). The ring tones can be listened to online as MIDI files. To download a ring tone costs 50p paid with the credit system (see below). If they don't have what you want you can build your own using their Java composer. You have a folder ...

Advantages: Free SMS, plenty of ringtones and logos, address book Disadvantages: Three to a phone per day
Oh I love this site!
What is it?
Textmessenger is another one of those sites that provides free SMS messages. Simply sign up for an account, log in and you're flying.
What's an SMS then?
SMS stands for short messaging service - basically allowing you to send 160 characetrs of text to any digital mobile phone.
Why Use TextMessenger Then?
Well basically because it's free and easy to use. Like I said, sign up for your account, log in, click send ... ...some odd reason). Then the nifty part - once you enter a phone number for the first time, it will prompt you for a name so it can add this number to your address book - then the next time you use the site it's just a matter of picking the name from the address book, instead of finding the number on your phone and typing it in. Textmessenger also allows for the use of signatures on the end of messages - eg "from Dave ..." which includes a reply number. ...

Advantages: Free messages, other tools Disadvantages: 88 Charachters
...run off somewhere else? Well, textmessenger.co.uk isn’t just text messages. You can access a range of logo’s, tones and jokes all to send to your phone or someone else’s (Nokia models required for tones and logo’s). You can send as many text messages a day as you like aswell, there is no limit, so you could sit there all day writing messages if you wished to! You do have to register, but this only takes about 5 minutes and ... ...always nice! The only thing I don’t like about textmessenger is that you can only send up to 88 characters per message when its usually about 160. However, this is a small price to pay when they are free. Normally a text message would cost you 10-12p from your phone depending on your operator, but this way it is totally free and you don’t have to spend any money on the site. You can spend some money if you want to though and buy yourself ...

I've had my mobile for less than a year but already love text messaging... Problem is it gets expensive after a while so I looked at the alternatives. I have found a number of free services on the internet but they all seem a bit dodgy. Lycos sometimes sends, sometimes doesn't, sometimes sends things 5 times over. I just don't trust it. You have to have an account with virginstudent.com and every time I logged in my computer seemed to crash. I've ... ...some form of problem. I've finally found one, which seems to work. It's www.textmessenger.com. You have to have an account with them but it's quick to log in. Once logged in you don't have to read the terms and conditions every time you wish to send a text message, you just click send, type your message, get a preview (good check to see if you've gone over the word limit), go back and edit your message and finally, when you're happy click send and ...
