If you're as keen on giving your opinion as I am, then this online survey company could well be right up your street. That's-What-I-Think are after your opinions on the entertainment industry. They send out surveys asking you what you think of the latest or upcoming TV, radio, film and music releases.
There are no boring surveys on dog food, toilet paper or moisturiser here. There are no tedious questions asking how likely you are to purchase Product X when it hits the shops. There are no commentaries required on alternative packaging designs for Product Y. And there are definitely no interminable questions on perceived value for money on Product Z.
~~~ WEBSITE ~~~ Interested? Their website address is www.thatswhatithink.co.uk, but please don't be put off by their home page - it does come across as a little bit "Smash Hits", or geared towards a teenage market. There are lots of images of guitars, speakers, TVs and headphones scattered throughout the site. It is fairly sparse information wise, but it's easy enough to navigate and follow. The website has a white background with grey and red highlights:
~ Home - what they are aiming to achieve ~ How it works - what's in it for you ~ FAQ - very sparse but you get more detail once registered ~ Register - online form ~ Opinion Points - log in point for current members
~~~ REGISTRATION ~~~ If you want to join up then the registration process is very, very simple. It's an online form asking the usual questions about yourself - name, age, email address, education and occupation. They ask you to choose a username (this can be your email address). They ask a further series of questions on your TV region, the type of music you like, how often you go to the cinema, and your favourite types of movie genre. They give you 500 Opinion Points just for joining, which puts you 33% of the way towards qualification for your first reward. Once registered you can log into your personal account:
~ Look up your total points ~ Refer a friend program (their spelling - not mine….) ~ Prize Catalog (ditto…) ~ Complete program rules ~ How to earn and redeem points ~ FAQ
~~~REWARDS~~~ So how do they reward you? Payment is made in Opinion Points which are redeemable for gift certificates or you can donate money to various different charities.
Every Opinion Point earnt is the equivalent of 3p and all the surveys I've received have paid at least 400 Opinion Points (£1.20). Once you reach 1,500 Opinion Points you can cash your points in for a £5 gift voucher or make a charitable donation.
You order your gift voucher online at the That's-What-I-Think website. However, recently the range of gift vouchers on offer have been very sparse and sometimes non-existant. You really do have to wait and choose your moment to find an option that suits you i.e. an Amazon gift voucher option appears sporadically so you have to act fast and order it when you see it. Other than that, the options to donate to charity are always there, but not that's not ideal for everyone. They have been threatening to extend their range of gift vouchers on offer for the past four years, but nothing has changed so far. Many a survey has finished by asking me for my suggestions on the sort of gift vouchers they should be offering, but nothing has changed. Perhaps my suggestion of Marks & Spencer gift vouchers went down like a lead balloon at That's-What-I-Think towers......Afterall M&S is probably just not hip and trendy enough for them....members might spend their earnings on cardigans and slippers...heaven forbid...
~~~SURVEYS~~~ Survey invites come by email and invite you to click on the link to complete the survey. There is no access to the survey via their website. The email tells you the number of Opinion Points you will earn, and the topic of the survey. All the emails I have received have stressed the urgency of completing the survey as soon as possible - some offering 100 bonus/early participation Opinion Points for a quick reply. Some will tell you that the survey is only open for the first 400 respondents, so it does pay to react quickly. I can't say how fast they fill up as I have managed to qualify every time so far.
The surveys themselves are quick and easy to follow, and without exception, have all asked my opinion on films. Anyone who is familiar with the OTX film surveys will notice similarities in the layout of the surveys and their questions. Basically, they ask for your option on the latest cinema releases, your knowledge of the latest blockbusters, and which ones you are planning on seeing at the cinema. They'ree simple and easy to complete - just clicking the relevant boxes with your answers. They're quite fun and informative as you get to find out what's on at the cinema, or just about to be released. Upon completion of the survey, That's-What-I-Think credit the points to your account immediately.
~~~REFERRAL PROGRAMME~~~ Another bonus of this site is that you can make up to five referrals and earn from it. If you invite someone to join, then you receive a bonus of 20% of the Opinion Points that they earn during the next 12 months. The referee is sent an invite email from That's-What-I-Think telling them that you have suggested they join up. I can vouch that it works - I received 100 Opinion Points for one very quick referral I made earlier this year. However, please note that referrals are strictly limited to 5 per member.
~~~PRIVACY~~~ They guarantee that all the information you give them is held confidentially and is never sold to third parties. I have never received any spam from them at all - only survey invites.
~~~ RECOMMENDATION? ~~~ I joined them over five years ago, and I've earned about £85 in gift vouchers during that period. I'll be honest, they don't offer me a huge amount of work, but what they do offer is well paid and easy to undertake. I never hesitate to respond to one of their survey invites, as I never get screened out and they're quite fun to do. So, if you're bored with product surveys then That's-What-I-Think do offer something a bit different. The surveys are easy, fun, and really quite entertaining.
However, where this site falls down is with the lack of incentives it offers. It used to have Firebox, CD Wow and Amazon gift vouchers readily available to claim once you reached the required points threshold. Nowadays, there is a DISTINCT lack of gift voucher options, other than charitable donations. Therefore, I can no longer recommend joining this site. Yes, their surveys are fun, but it's pretty pointless doing them if there is no decent reward on offer at the end of the day.
Advantages: Easy to join; some good rewards Disadvantages: The website is a bit boring to look at and some surveys are infrequent
...Anyway, I joined thatswhatithink.co.uk in August 2004, after finding it in Ask Jeeves when looking under "consumer websites".
WHAT IS IT?
The basic idea is that when you join thatswhatithink, you fill in a survey about your interests eg how many times you usually go to the cinema, what is your profession etc etc. From this information, you receive further surveys by email and for this you get a certain amount of "points" which add up to gifts and ... ...I received 400 points just for joining on August 28th 2004 and then on August 31st, I got sent my first survey for which I was given another 400 points. The next survey was in December 19th 2004 and again I received 400 points. However, I wasn't invited to take part again until October 2005 when I received 400 points for a survey about the cinema and a whopping 1500 points just for doing a 7 minute long survey about DVDs. I was very pleased with ...
Advantages: Earn Some Vouchers To Treat Yourself Disadvantages: Can be Slow and Irregular
Sorry folks, another survey site for you to think about.
I joined these in July 2004, I was recommended through a friend, and I was going through the time when I was joining these all at once.
They are one of a few that I have stuck with since then, although it is not a regular survey site, but they seem to have stuck around for a while, they always reply prompt when you have a query, and always pay out prompt when submitting your details when ... ...radio, movies or television.
The surveys are always quite short, in length of time to complete and the actual quantity of questions.
Typical type question would be "What movies have you seen in the past 6 months", seems to be quite the norm for the variety of questions that they ask.
I don't think I've ever had a survey that has lasted for more than 15 minutes.
This layout of the site is very basic and quite bland looking. You are greeted with ...
Advantages: easy surveys Disadvantages: they only give you charity donations
thatswhatithink.co.uk is a bit of a rip :-( i have been doing surveys for them for a number of years. to start with they were ok, do some surveys, get some amazon vouchers, no problems. but for the last year or so they have had nothing but charity donation vouchers on the site despite saying in every survey email that they offer amazon and even paypal vouchers. i have written to them a number of times and even tried to turn trading standards loose ...
Advantages: Give Vouchers Disadvantages: Sometimes frequent surveys sometimes lacking
I have been on the interent sice 1996, I have been a freebie, survey and ebay addict for some time, and condsider myself as an expert in this field.
I live most of my time inside my parents house starring at a computer screen wasting my time looking at junk which may turn into some worth while investment. I have joined most survey sites. The only ones e-mailing me surveys are Ciao, Gozing, NOP and thatswhatIthink.
All these years I have been trying ... ...and I see what a waste of time has been spent. I am so addicted to the internet my concentratrion of TV has gone. Anyway the point I am trying to make is that with all this time wasting thatwhatIthink is an under valued site which should be on the ranks with Ciao, Gozing and the rest because they are the only ones who have actually given me anything worthwhile I haven't even reached £5 on Ciao yet and I have been a member for a while now.
Should ...
