...Last weekend, having seen a local newspaper advert, we headed to Motorpoint Glasgow looking for a nearly-new Vauxhall Zafira. We were initially attracted by their claims to be able to supply an 03 plate Zafira for £143 per month.
Whilst we didn't quite find a deal as good as the one in the advert, we did find a great deal on an 8 month old Zafira, with the specification and colour we wanted, and only 13,000 miles on it. It has yet to even undergo the first service.
Using their Boomerang finance package means we have the option to upgrade or return the car at the end of our contract. This suits us well - might not be to everyone's taste, but we didn't want to own the car outright at the end of the term.
The sales staff are great - it's the first time I've experienced visiting a used car outlet where you are truly given time...

...now been ‘talking’ for 12 and a half minutes. My money on my prepaid mobile runs out. Man calls me back. He thinks he has a vague idea where I am (it seemed quite simple to me – on the M74, heading north, and by calculating the difference between the distance I’ve done and the distance I’ve yet to do, I know we’re about 30 miles south of Glasgow.)

Over an hour goes by. It’s a Friday afternoon and the roads are not busy at all. We’re half an hour’s drive from the major city of Glasgow, and several small towns are closer than that (I know this because to stop ourselves from going mad, and to take our minds off our desperate need to pee, my mate and I have been map...

...Why should we have motorway speed limits? I use 2 motorways nearly every day, the M8 in Glasgow and the M74 in Lanarkshire. The M74 has a 70mph limit even though it has only 2 lanes each way(kinda like a dual carriageway with a hard shoulder). The M8 at Glasgow has a 50mph limit at one point even though this section has 5 lanes. The quoted reason for the 50 mph limit has been that it is a busy section of road, with a complex layout. Legitimate point? Maybe, but if that is true, how then is the M74, which can be extremely busy, have a 70mph limit? And how can it be fair that you can be prosecuted for speeding on a stretch of road when there are no other vehicles on it?
The restrictions on traffic for using a motorway are such that there should not usually be a situation where slow moving traffic would be a problem...
