Thehungersite.com is one of those sites that makes everyone feel like they are doing their bit. A UN supported site, thehungersite is an excellent site, easy to navigate and very worthwhile spending 2 minutes at EVERY day.
I started going there back in 1999 when I was sent a link to it by my mum. Very soon after there was an article about internet sites that donate money to charities and this was one of the few listed legitimate.

The hunger site is a great site where you can help someone less fortunate than ourselves. This organisation works with various companies who donate money through use of clicks. The opening page allows you to click on a link to “Give Free Food” as you click on this link, the next page loads with various banners and so on. This next page lets you know that you have donated 1 cup of staple food to a hungry person . This lets you know who ... ...such as the earthshop.com and garnethill.com giving money to the site for the amount of clicks they receive. This money in turn pays for the food which is sent to the countries that have the least food and consequently are starving.

Thehungersite was one of the first click-to-donate sites to appear on the web. (Well it was the first one I heard of anyway). For those of you who don't know, a click-to-donate site is where you visit a site, click on a link and the advertiser gives a donation to whichever good cause the site supports. In the case of the hunger site advertisers donate one cup of food for a starving person for each visitor. In effect you get to help good causes with ... ...24 hours and it has a counter which tells you how many times you have donated this week.
They also have a shop which sells t-shirts, gifts and other items of clothing, with the proceeds of the sale going towards food for hungry people. As they only ship to the USA, this isn't particularly relevant to the UK audience.

This figure is staggering to say the least. Every 3.6 seconds someone dies of hunger and out of this figure 75% are children. This is really sad indeed.
