THIS IS FOR REAL. THE MEMBERS OF CIAO COULD REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE. LETS DO OUR BEST TO HELP SOMEONE RIGHT NOW......
This is probably the most worthwhile website on the net. By simply going to the site and clicking on a little box, which will take about 10 seconds of your time, you really could save someone's life.The site works like this:
Sponsors pay to advertise on the site, just like any other. However, instead of paying in US dollars or pounds sterling or whatever other currency, they pay in food for those in the third world who desperately need it.Everytime someone clicks on the box on the site, each sponsor will pay for half a cup of food . This means that if there are 5 advertisers, your click will provide two and a half cups of food. This could save a life.
The site asks you to click on the logos of the advertisers, so that they keep paying to place ad ad on the page. However, this is by no means obligatory,and even if you never do it, each time you click on that box, the food will be on it's way to wherever it's needed the most.Only one click per 24 hours is accepted, but even that can make such a difference. You have the option of making the site your home page, which means that you'll never forget to do it every time you log on.
If you have powers within a company who you think may be interested in advertising on the site, then use them. The more advertisers there are, the more food will be sent. There is a link on the site to let you know how to go about advertising there- it couldn't be easier.There are links on the site to a few other 'click and donate' sites, including one allowing you to save an area of rainforest. These are of course all worth checking out aswell, and maybe someone could write an opinion on them!
I hope that by letting you all know about this site, we can , between us, make a difference. And not just a small difference, this really could help alot. Lets be optimistic and estimate that 10 people read this opinion. Maybe, if each of you ten people could just e-mail 5 friends telling them about the site, and those 5 friends could e-mail 5 of their friends....Do you see where I'm going? Between us we could donate thousands of pounds worth of food to those who really need it...
