Themestream is in its preview stage and paying 10 cents a page view. This payment is expected to fall to 2 cents in September. Themestream is different from Ciao in that it is not product-based, but interest-based in its content. If you are interested in a product, you may find it there, but your are more likely to find articles on fly fishing, gardening, and astrophotography. There are reviews written on theater, music, books, art, and articles on anything from knitting to golf. Themestream also offers great possibilities for fiction writers, as it hosts a large collection of short stories, screenplays and serialized novels. The fiction writer may build a portfolio easily and quickly. It is possible, and it has happened, that publishers spot work on Themestream and buy it from the author. Copyright remains with the author and reprint or reissue rights; although Themestream has a license to also use the work as it chooses. There are technical problems almost all the time, as might be expected during Beta stage. The reading audience needs to be enticed to Themestream by the author's own proactive marketing to search engines, directories, forums and elsewhere. But Themestream pays quarterly and it is a proven payer.
