There is a petition of the day, which today was to stop the killing of primates in Africa as they are endangered species. There is a newest petitions section and the top ten most popular petitions are displayed on the front page. I think it is always worth looking at the top ten petitions as they are more likely to get enough signatures to bring about change.

You can also discuss petitions. Do you agree or disagree with them? I thnik that some petitions to close certain offensive websites down can be counter-productive as people visit the site to see what they think before putting their name to a petition thus giving the offensive site more visitors which encourages it to continue. The petition site is fairly new but it has already had one success story. A petition to save wolves helped to create a buffer zone so that wolves which accidently wandered out of the national park's were protected. As there becomes a greater awareness of this site and more people sign petitions there will be many more success stories.
