Do you drift restlessly through life looking for a bargain? Do you toss and turn wondering if today you missed the chance to pick up a steal?

Well if you do, this is a site that you must check out. Why you wonder it sounds like something to do with that awfully staged “Sport” called WWF. Well it is not; there is no actual slamming on the site called the “Slammer”.

What is this site? Well it is a site to purchase computer games, oh yes more e-tailing, virtual shopping and click and spend for your credit card, but there is no charge to register.

So here is the summary.

Prices – Lets start with the biggy, there are games for free, oh yes bargain hunters, free games, for the PC and the Playstation, sorry Dreamcasters, once again nobody wants to play with you on your games platform. Well, they say they are free, in fact you have to pay £2.99 for postage and packing, but I suppose that is fair enough. So in effect there are games for £2.99. Every couple of weeks the “free (£2.99)” games change and so for games collectors a regular visit is well worthwhile. The actual games themselves are not those classic games, generally they are those that will have received 70% or less in the reviews, but some are still worth a try at these ridiculous prices. Examples of recent £2.99 games for the PC are Grand Prix Manager, Trivial Pursuit and Star Trek Generations and I have seen Worms Armageddon for the Playstation.

Other prices on the site vary, but in general you can expect to pay £5 - £10 less than the high street, but as all packages are sent via registered delivery, postage and packing will take up another £2 -£5, depending on the size of package.

The site – Well it is nothing special, in fact it is rather dull (a recent upgrade has improved it). There are very few features that keep you surfing, but this is a basic games shopping site and there is nothing wrong with the site’s design, it serves its purpose. The speed of the site has improved dramatically in recent weeks (previously it had been snails pace). But all the links work and there is nothing wrong with the site, it is just boring and devoid of inspiration as are 80% of shopping sites.

Delivery - I have found this poor, I am still waiting for some “free” games ordered three weeks ago and you cannot expect a free game to arrive in the week that you ordered it. The delivery of the other games (i.e. not “free”) is better, usually within three to four days. The postage charged by the site is more than sites such as BOL and Jungle and about on par with Amazon.

Customer Service – Again this is poor, e-mails are not answered promptly, (it has taken 3-4 days in my experience) and the people answering them have little initiative. When enquiring where some of game I had ordered but not received were, I supplied the order number in my e-mail and the games I had received and all I got back was a request for the titles that I had ordered. Why, they could not retrieve the titles from the order number, I will never know. This may not seem a big gripe, but the standard of customer service offered usually reflects the general standard of the whole organisation.

Payment – This site is one that takes your credit card number on registration. Now I do not like doing that as it is stored straight away and not via the most secure link, so again on this point “slammer” falls down, or is slammed down. Tee hee.

Product range – This is huge, what more can you say, although it is aimed at PC CD-roms and Playstation games.

Ok, so what do I think, well for the free games and offers, this site is worth using, but its poor delivery and customer service mean that its overall standard is poor. But if you think price wins the day, use it, if you hate firms that provide a poor standard of service they may frustrate you. It would get 5 stars for price and 2 stars for service, so I give it three stars.

An overall good review, but in my opinion it's a bit too long. Some people get bored after only a couple of paragraphs. Me being one of them. Sorry.
