Advantages: The definitive owner's club for the Smart Driver. Free membership Disadvantages: Only for those with Smarts!
Smart Club UK is the web’s leading owner’s club for the MCC Smart car, which is built and marketed by Daimler Chrysler. I should point out now the Smart Club is independently run and is a non-profit making organisation.
The Smart Club therefore appeals, in the main, to owners of said Smarts (alflavor being one, lol!) and anyone else who has a passing interest in this unique pocket-rocket.
www.smart-drivers.co.uk would ... ...quick flash intro, which you can skip if you choose, and then you turn onto the front cover of the club.
To use the club’s facilities, which include news and message boards, you do need to sign up, often the norm these days. Signing up merely requires the usual personal bits of information, and then questions need to be answered about your Smart. If you don’t have one then you can still sign up though!

www.smart-drivers.co.uk would be the link to follow, which takes you to a quick flash intro, which you can skip if you choose, and then you turn onto the front cover of the club.

On the downside, membership approval is done manually, and you will have to wait a day or so before the site’s administrator can add you to the member database. Once set up you can log in and use the club.
Standard items revolve around Smart news and member’s photos. These need little introduction I feel. You can check up on the latest Smart news, and look at other’s smarts, or post pictures of you and yours!
Whilst independent the club is recognised by Daimler Chrysler, and therefore Smart Club will carry official press releases at the club, along with information detailing to Smart Centres and so forth. A useful facility, duplicating information from the official Smart site, but bettering it with more detail.
Smart Club has links to various retailers who can offer special offers to Smart owners. Most of these offers relate to companies who tune Smarts to make them go faster, and other places that offer styling parts for the car. Should you choose to do something to the Smart then go here first as good discounts can be found, if you follow the right links! Look out for the Hoverspeed information, which allows you to float over to France on this carrier, for the price of a motorbike!
PanelZone is a feature where you can swap and sell panels from your Smart. Yes, if you didn’t know the main body panels of a Smart are durable plastic and can be swapped at will, with the right tools or Smart Centre (recommended) help!
The main body of the club is the messageboard facility. These boards are very lively and quick answers to Smart related stuff is always found, with little difficulty. More importantly, these ‘boards are a superb way of meeting Smart friends. The boards are managed by Smart Club, but are externally run on an “Ezboard” system. May of you will probably be familiar with these.
In a way they’re like newsgroups, but much more user-friendly and interactive! You do need an ezboard account to use the Smart board, which requires another registration process, but it’s approved instantly, and by way of a cookie, you do not need to log in every time, unlike the main Smart Club pages.
The boards are organised into various Smart Parts.
General Discussions- for all general Smart Stuff. Technical Queries – speaks for itself! Meetings – find out when your next local Smart Meet is, or organise one yourself. Photos – the place to post photos or web jpegs you’ve found of anything Smart related. For Sale, Wants and Auctions – for the individual with something to offer. Contact Me – if you want to trace a particular Smart member, - maybe someone you met at a Smart meet? Performance and Modifications – goes hand in hand with ‘technical queries’ but this section is for those adding superchips, dump valves, bigger turbos and so on to get more out of the Smart’s impressive lump. Spotted a Smart – As it is customary to flash and wave at other Smarts you pass, it’s also customary to Spot a Smart and also see if you get spotted. Enter details of a Smart you see here, and wait for responses! Polls – Speaks for itself, this is quite a lively section. Archive – read the old posts from way back.
So there you go – the Smart Club, for all things Smart. They have member in over 50 countries, and currently have a membership stretching into the thousands, with around 15 new applications each and every day. This club is compulsive viewing for anyone with a passing interest in a Smart.
