The Smoking Gun was founded in 1997 by two American journalists and a designer, I would personally say that this is one of the most addictive sites on the internet today. The Smoking Gun publishes currently or once confidential documents, this includes material released by the US Freedom of Information Act and by similar lawas in other countries.

Material such as a 911 call made by the man from Austin who shopped George W Bush's daughters for attepting to buy alcohol underage with ID, has been published on the site.

More interestingly, the site offers a rich trove of history, like a psychological assesment of Adolf Hitlar by US intelligence. The Smoking Gun also provides a closer or different perspective on contemporary affairs. Timothy Mcveigh's death certificate is there, as is the protocol explaining every detail of the execution procedure.

Thers many other documents and archives included on the site. Theres also prizes and a mailing list you can signup for. I would say that if your into this kind of thing then trhis site is well worth a visit!
