When i first used the railways for a journey i tried all different online ticketbooking serivces. The one i use now is The Train line.com
I find it very easy to navigate, it is very simple and user friendly. The set up on the website is very nice, its not too busy but still interesting to look at.
The website explains evrything very well, i have never been confused or misunderstood anything on there.
The tickets are deleivered very quickly, which is very imprtant to me as i often book quite late with very short notice.
I do not bother to reserve my seats with them anymore. The first time i didnt have a problem, but the second time they claimed to have reserved the seat for me, and sent me the ticket saying so. There was a card in the seat and another person in it! They were also carrying a ticket for that seat! They rserved their seat after i did, so it is obvious The trainline.com ddid not reserve my seat!
On one occasion the timetable they gave me was inaccurate and i ended up late for an appointment due to it.

I don't use them for buying tickets, but I use their timetable search several times a month and have never had a problem. L
