Thomson fly - hassle!
Advantages good flights
Disadvantages bad admin
My boyfriend has parents in Malaga and me and him decided we would like to go and visit in October just passed. We searched throught the usual "low cost airlines" bmi baby, jet2.com and easyjet and couldn't find anything particularly low cost.
Just out of interest I had a look on thomsonfly as someone has mentioned they have low cost flights.
As Leeds/Bradford airport is only a 30-40 minute drive we would have liked to have flown from there but the prices were really high.
Then after a lot of boring searching I found a cheap flight from Manchester, the flight time was about 4pm so getting a train wouldn't be too bad.
I searched on thetrainline.com and found a reasonable train fare and even with this the total cost was still less than all the others we had found.
I went back onto the website to book and found that there was a cheap flight flying out from Manchester and returning to Leeds/Bradford for £97. I thought this was very reasonable and booked up.
I realised a couple of hours later that I had been rather thick and put both tickets in my name! I then phoned up to change one ticket name but the offices were only open Monday to Friday 9-5 which I wasn't too impressed with seen as mosty people are at work at these times.
I then phoned up first thing on the monday morning and changed the name which cost me £15 which I wasn't too bothered about seen as though the error was all my fault.
I was told they would send another written confirmation which would contain flight numbers and then I asked about our return flight where we were actually flying back to - I then had to hold the line through half an ABBA album which I wasn't happy about to be told that was another error made at the admin office and we were actually flying back to Leeds and not Manchester!!
The written confirmation turned up the morning before we were flying out even though I had called 3 WEEKS beforehand! We got to Manchester airport picked up the tickets which was a very easy smooth process and the lady at the Thomson desk at the airport was very friendly.
We waited at Manchester airport and got on the plane, the staff were very friendly and the flight was good. When returning it was the same - an enjoyable flight but it seemed a bit cramped as on the way there the flight was half empty so we could put the seats right back. Again the staff were friendly and we landed in Leeds/Bradford - there was a 40 minute wait for our bags at the other end but I'm guessing that was more the airport staff's fault and nothing to do with Thomson.Unfortunately I haven't had such a good experience as other's who have written reviews but I think if the flights were very cheap I would fly again with then.
Really it was only the booking process that was messed up, strange how when the customer makes a mistake they are so quick to charge, when they make a mistake a different matter?

I wouldn't trust myslef booking something last minute like this, I always get my mum to do important things like this for me, I would have probably made the same mistake with the tickets as well, lol. x x
