Excellent

Probably the best toffee on the highstreet.

It's very bad for you... but it's still lush!

Thornton's Special toffee is by far one of the finest toffees on the market. It contains no stabilisers or emulsifiers, no E numbers or odd sounding chemicals, just a good, wholesome mix of various sugars, vegetable oils and butter. The result of this is a gloriously home-made feeling product...

An Introduction to Thorntons: Thorntons is a perfect example of a small business that has expanded and "made it in the big time." The first of the Thorntons shops was set up on a humble side street in Sheffield by a man named Joseph Thornton who at the time (1911) could not possibly have imagined...

Tasty , lovely , creamy , buttery , traditonal

Can remove teeth and is far too naughty .

Thornton's Original Special Toffee is a product you can rely on , in so many ways . The taste has remained consistently good throughout the years . It is not one of those sweets that , if you do not eat for a while , comes as a nasty shock . So much confectionary , if ignored for a while , seems...

Not too sticky,

Very sweet

I love toffees, well; I love lots of sweets but every so often Just love to eat toffees. I have been known to make my own butterscotch and chewy toffee and of course fudge, but the ones I have decided to review today are made by that chocolate lovers company Thorntons. The website has a brief...

The most delicious toffee in the world

The sugar and fat content!

My first memories of Thorton's Special Toffee are around about 1985 when my Grandad used to buy my Grandma special toffee, by the quarter from behind a counter and the toffee came in a blue and white paper bag. Times have changed since then, however Special Toffee hasn't! Special Toffee is no...

Chocolate Heaven Since 1911 Every birthday, Christmas, celebration and sometimes Saturday (just because it was a Saturday) my dad would have a box of Thorntons special toffee. If fact according to the Thornton's website the toffee is , "Deliciously rich and creamy, yet simple, just the kind of...

A bald man with one leg wanted to go to a fancy dress party but he didn't know what to go as. He wrote to a fancy dress company and asked for a recommendation. The reply came back saying that he could go as a monk because of his bald head. He replied angrily saying that they were just being rude...

“A special treat”

published 31/08/2007

Rich, good value

A bit too sweet, rock hard pieces

I'm not a huge fan of toffee, and as I'm not really meant to eat it anyway due to a brace but I do from time to time (if offered) indulge in a chunk or two - and generally it's Thorntons 'special' toffee, as that seems to be the most popular choice amongst friends and relatives...

“Sticky Toffee not for me.”

published 29/08/2007

Tasty, long lasting , cheap

aftertaste is bitter, too sweet,

Since opening their first shop in Sheffield in 1911, Thorntons have cornered the maket with their chocolates and toffees. The package. Not a lot of inspiration here a plastic bag, brown and cream in colour with Thorntons written on. I would have preferred had they put it in a box, which would be...
