Since opening their first shop in Sheffield in 1911, Thorntons have cornered the maket with their chocolates and toffees.
The package.
Not a lot of inspiration here a plastic bag, brown and cream in colour with Thorntons written on.
I would have preferred had they put it in a box, which would be more suitable for special occasions.
On Opening the bag.
The smell was extremely sweet and very appealing for those with a sweet tooth.
Taste wise.
I found this toffee to be much too sweet, although it does last a long time. There was a definite aftertaste and it was somewhat bitter and not at all nice . It is very nice tasting until the end.
I also found that it left a coating on my teeth, this meant that I needed to clean them. I do feel that with all that sweetness there must be an awful lot of sugar in them. This means it would only be for an occasional treat.
I also felt extremely thirsty after eating this toffee, that and the aftertaste made me want a large glass of water to clear my palate.
One thing in favour of Thorntons is that they do not use any GM ingredients, so everything used is natural.
The toffe is suitable for Vegetarians and is also Gluten free.
Nutritional values are on the pack, so read them before you eat.
I do feel that Thorntons could have used more environmentally friendly packaging.
This Toffe is also available in Fruit and Nut, Treacle, Liquorice, Brazil nut, Strawberries and cream, Banana and mint.
The bag sizes are 1.25g and 2.50g also they do have a 650g box the prices are 99p, £1.99 and for the box £4.95.
