Advantages: Large selection of tickets Disadvantages: Poor value, lack of information about restricted views
As you may already know from reading my other ops I went to London last summer, and when we were there we wanted to see a West End show. I checked many of the sites that were openly selling tickets to find that either their range of seats available were poor or they charged the Earth in booking and admin fees. I finally came to settle on Ticketmaster.
---Site Design---
When you visit the Ticketmaster site, you come across what looks a pretty basic ... ...and very little actual branding by them to state that this is their website that you have visited. Down the left hand side, you have a small box that holds a search facility, a latest news box (which basically gives the three newest events that they have tickets for and the chance to sign up for their email alert) and 5 or 6 adverts which strangely are for their own site. Funnily enough, the only part of the website that contains adverts for external ...

Advantages: Large choice of events, secure transactions Disadvantages: No returns policy, high service charge
I first became familiar with ticketmaster a few years ago when I started going to watch England football matches. At the time there were only 2 ways of getting tickets, the first was by being a member englandfans and the other way was to get them through ticketmaster when they were released on general sale. Over the last few years the ticketmaster website has gradually improved, originally when you tried to buy tickets to the events through general ... ...times which meant that you had to constantly keep refreshing until the page loaded. The other option was to try and get through on the phone and constantly getting the engaged tone until you eventually got through.
The main problem when tickets are released on general sale is that if it is a popular event then it is like a free-for-all to get tickets and you can guarantee that a lot of touts will also be trying to get tickets at the same time so ...

Advantages: Online or phone Disadvantages: If it's busy it's a pain
About Ticketmaster:
Ticketmaster is a company that sells tickets for a pretty wide variety of events from music concerts to sporting events to theatre to general "attractions".
To quote their website they are "the world's leading entertainment ticketing company".
You can purchase both online and over the telephone.
So what am I reviewing?
Well I've had a few experiences with them and I had another adventure today which has prompted me to do ... ...but also incorporates a little bit of their telephone service as well.
My experiences:
Generally I've found the service online and by phone to be very good. The website is fairly easy to navigate and the forms used to buy the tickets with work simply and quickly. I'd like to see a bit more user friendliness however, its one of those sites that relies on the user to know a bit about how the web works (you've seen it before so you'll knwo how our ...

Advantages: huge array of tickets available Disadvantages: expensive and not trouble-free
ticketmaster.co.uk is a wonderful idea. Buy tickets for just about any performance of any show/gig anywhere securely online and have your tickets sent straight to your door by first class post.
None of that ringing up when the boss isn't looking only to find you get an answerphone message saying 'Our box office is open from x o'clock to x o'clock Monday to Saturday. Please call back then'. None of that having to give your credit card details to ... ...go to, ticketmaster.co.uk is very useful to me and I will continue to use it. Just don't expect your purchase to be cheap, or to go without a hitch.
If anyone knows of another ticket selling site they can recommend, please let me know. Cheers. ...

Advantages: One number for all bookings should be a good idea, the website is easy to use Disadvantages: Server cannot cope with demand, tickets sold before general sale, 'exclusive' club for advance ticket sales, a lottery as to whether you get tickets or not
I have three experiences of using ticketmaster, or trying to, and none of them are good or happy experiences, unfortunately. I have tried to use their service both online and over the telephone and I have come to this conclusion....... I REALLY HATE TICKETMASTER!!!!!
So, let me explain. First off I was trying to get tickets for the WWF show Insurrection, which was to be held at Earls Court in early May 2001. The tickets went on sale in December ... ...is what, 15000 tickets sold in 20 minutes. That would mean to sell all of those tickets in 20 minutes, given that the average transaction will take about 2 minutes (or more) to complete, they would have to have at least 1500 people on the phone taking orders..... I don't think so. I did try and book online, and indeed, I did have a set of tickets bagged, but the website was so slow (due to excess traffic I was later told by a ticketmaster agent when ...
