I've had my Argos double bed for about 13mths now and have had no problems with it so far either, and I also managed to build mine myself too...like you I could also feel the slats through the thin mattress, will be buying a new bed soon and my son will get the one I have as he likes having a lot of space to roll about lol by missy0303

I don't think I would trust an Argos bed....I like a really proper, solid base and mattress, unfortunately haven't had one for a few years now! by avacarrdo

Advantages: comfortable, soft and supportive
Disadvantages: feathers poke through, stitching comes away easily, feathers migrate

When we bought a bed the salesman insisted that we couldn't buy until we try! So we tried quite a few mattresses before we settled on the one we have now. I certainly wouldn't consider buying a mattress now without having a go first. Great review. We bought a new bed last year after my wife started getting backache. Its amazing the difference it can make to your life. I'm convinced beds should be renewed every 10 years. Well worth the investment. by maddad1
