Really bad department within the University. There are two arrogant lecturers Fiona Conway and Matthew Alexander. They think there good but don't even speak to students when they have questions. It's simple find another University to study Hospitality.

Advantages: nothing
Disadvantages: less friends, treated unequal, slow education, waste of time, ruin their lives...

I am sorry you are so upset. Being in Special Needs can be such a positive thing and what is awful is that you have come out of it feeling that you gained nothing. I assume you have now left school in which case please make sure you continue your education in order to realise your dreams. by mistymoosy

I am just about to wrie my own op on special needs and thought I would check some other ops first. I agree with you totally on most points you made but especially the funding. I will be covering that in my opinion as it really does stink and people need to know what is happening with their children's education. Nice one - Paula by Paula_23_uk

Excellent op. When I worked as a dental nurse one of our patients was a special needs child. He was the most beautiful little boy who had the most loving parents and big sister. He has always been treated like any other child by his family and has gone on to have a very full life. He has even managed to go all the way through main stream primary school. He was such an inspiration to me that I named my own little boy after him. I now have 2 children of my own and they both treat all children that they meet as equals, even if the child they are with is in a wheelchair or cannot see etc. At the end of the day everyone deserves to be treated equally no matter what disabilities we have. by bsky

Hi , I have a special needs child (down's syndrome and Autism) a lot more obvious, but my advice is DO NOT GIVE UP and the person who holds to key is the County Councils' Educational Physcologist, find out who they are and badger them until they listen! Best of luck, Graham by grahamdavidcook

It always saddens me to hear of the education system failing someone like yourself and in partcular your son. It leads me to wonder if the people who are supposed to be responsible can not just take a step back and attempt to imagine what it might be like not to be able to read and write or add up.
