This wine is on offer at Lidl at the moment. It's a 2006 cabernet sauvignon and is excellent. The offer is buy 4 bottles get 2 free so a box of 6 is £19.16 instead of £28.74. I bought a box to take to my son's on Christmas Day and decided to sample it beforehand......I went back to get another 5 boxes!! This truly is a lovely wine if you like a robust, yet smooth, fruity red then this is better than some I've paid more than double for. Fill your boots quickly though, when I went back to get more the following day, the mountain of boxes had diminished to just 7 so others must have enjoyed it as much as I did.

I discovered this wine recently and agree, it is excellent. I enjoy a glass or two of wine every evening and this reminds me of the home made vino my grandfather would make. Goes very well w/pastas, filet mignon, appetizers, or alone! I pay $8.99 in US per bottle - reasonable for such a fine wine. Marlene, NY

I chose this as a cheaper alternative to Chateauneuf du Pape, as previous reviewer - especially as half price again - to go with bolognaise. However, I had the 2006 vintage (decanted for an hour or so). The wine tasted initially of dark berries and spicy green peppers, with dark coffee and burnt sugar in the mid-palate. I found the finish slightly awkward - the bitterness of the coffee and burnt sugar outlasting the fruit flavours, combined with some heat from the alcohol. Definitely a food wine - it would be difficult to drink by itself. Looking at the review of the 2005 vintage, I would seek this out instead where possible!
