Yes the Ritz is famous and is decorated with lots of gold plating, but it is mostly faux baroque-kitsch, the staff can be rude and arrogant (even the boys who carry your suitcase!) and the clientele is nearly all russian or arabic. For a much more classy and enjoyable stay I recommend Claridges or the Dorchester.

A completely pretentious and boring attraction. You would do better to take the £21 entrance fee, go to Tesco, buy four bottles of good wine and sit in the park with a wine guide. You'd get more of an experience of wine, and better value for money.
