Advantages: the hotel is very near to the promenade and shops
Disadvantages: the meals are very basic

Advantages: Good base for exploring, good selection of shops, bars and restaurants.
Disadvantages: Not as pretty as some other places. Building work is a problem at the moment.

Great review! Off to Belgium in 3 weeks with hubby and kids. We'll be based in Ostend with included excursions to Brussels, Bruge and Ghent. Glad that the comments overall have been quite positive as I had heard one or two disparaging remarks about Ostend, although I'm aware that Bruges is more picturesque! by loum70

Only you missed to mention that there is the beach is of pure fine golden sand not mud and not pebble stones. And the sand dunes go on,and on, and on, until you reach a natural nature reserve. And there is a race course too! Congratulation on your diamond. by reginabelga
