Advantages: Beautiful Scenery, Numerous Tour operators
Disadvantages: Best not tackled alone unless experienced walker.

Advantages: Comfortable, clean hotel with lots of facilities close to Funchal Lido
Disadvantages: A pull uphill to the door - but it is Madeira - everything is uphill!

My wife and I have visited the Quinta Palmeira 6 times in the past 5 years and it just gets better and better. Our last 4 visits I have booked either by phone or internet from London and we have been greeted like old friends. We had two meals there in December 2007 (a wedding anniversary and a birthday and on each occasion my wife was presented with a work of art created with flowers from the Quintas gardens, truly beautiful. The food as always was wonderful, cooked perfectly and presented and served with real flair. The staff are truly impressive (as is the wine list). I look forward to our next visit and will ensure that any friends who visit Funchal also visit the Quinta Palmeira.

Advantages: Temperatures consistently in the mid seventies,people lovely,beautiful island
