I stayed at the Centrum Pensjonat last year. Although it was quite depressing when I went there. I found with hostels that even if it's decent enough to sleep there, it also depends on who you meet during your stay (particularly if you're a solo traveller). Good review. I was only there a couple of days. I did enjoy the parks - expecially the vigeland scultpure park which was a short tram ride outside the centre. J. by tumblewheel

Great review. I loved Bergen when I went last year. Like Bri, I did the trip up Mount Floyen and had some lovely photos - especially as you could see a storm heading in to the city. It was an excellent view. I wish I had explored some of the other 6 mountains that surround Bergen. But similar to yourselves I had a budget and was planning on a lot of travelling. Personally, I would say Bergen is more expensive than London. I was lucky enough to get a fjord trip in too which was amazing (but expensive). J. by tumblewheel
