My Day Top Of The Pyramid
Review of Teotihuacan Pyramids (Mexico) by
zoe_page
Advantages: You get to climb these babies!
Disadvantages: Getting there is a chore
There are some things you just have to see during a stay in Mexico, but some of these things are things you may only want to see once even if your stay is an extended one. For me, Teotihuacán was on this list, and so I "saved" it for when I had a visitor ...

Ancient Maya-On-The-Sea
Review of Tulum, Mexico by
zoe_page
Advantages: A gorgeous setting for exploring the ruins
Disadvantages: Gets super hot super quickly during summer
Located on the Mexican Mayan Riviera, south of Playa del Carmen and Cancun, Tulum has a small town, a hotel zone and a pre-Columbian Maya site. It's the last of these which I'm going to tell you about.
The Tulum ruins are apparently the third most-visi ...

The Land of Eternal Summer (so not Spring)
Review of Cuernavaca, Mexico by
zoe_page
Advantages: Really pretty, with proper Mexican flavour
Disadvantages: Not soooo much to see
Wiki tells me that "Cuernavaca lies about 700 metres (2,300 ft) lower than Mexico City, and therefore serves as a popular refuge from the cold for inhabitants of Mexico City". This, I find hilarious. I have been living in Mexico City for two months and wo ...

Magical Mayan History
Review of Chichen Itza by
zoe_page
Advantages: Lots of interesting things to see
Disadvantages: Gets hot and busy quite early every day
Before I moved to Mexico City I was based in the Yucutan Peninsula, and, aware of my impending departure, set about ticking off all the must-dos for the region. The most famous of these is Chichén Itzá, recently named one of the new 7 Wonders of the World ...

Xpu-Ha: Beach Paradise
Review of Yucatan Peninsula (Mexico) by
zoe_page
Advantages: Gorgeous deserted beach, clear, clear water
Disadvantages: mosquitoes
The 3 of us go to Xpu-Ha after finding it in a guidebook. It is pronounced sh-poo-ha but despite the dodgy name it is supposed to be an idyllic paradise. We set off about 9.30am to walk to the bus station on 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen, from where it i ...

Chichen Itza Day Trip
Review of Yucatan (Mexico) by
zoe_page
Advantages: Great day out
Disadvantages: Crowds
The only thing better than an early morning start to a tour is when your allocated time passes and you're still waiting and waiting at the pick-up point. Luckily for me, one of the guys who works at the tour place turned up early for work and called the c ...

Paradise Found
Review of Cozumel (Mexico) by
zoe_page
Advantages: Within easy reach of Playa, some lovely beach clubs
Disadvantages: Some less than lovely beach clubs
Cozumel is an island about 30 mins ferry ride from Playa del Carmen. It is also a resort in itself, boasting various posh and not-so-posh hotels, and is on the stopping route for many Caribbean cruises. While staying in Playa, we spent a couple of weekend ...

A Nice Place To Visit...
Review of Playa Del Carmen, Mexico by
zoe_page
Advantages: Great weather
Disadvantages: 5th Avenue is oh so touristy
Playa del Carmen, about 45 minutes from Cancun, is a beach resort on the Mexican Riviera Maya. It is supposed to be what Cancun was like 20 years ago - quaint, friendly, less-touristy. I never made it into the hotel zone at Cancun but if what they say is ...

Excellent choice for Merida
Review of Fiesta Americana, Merida by
supremouk
Advantages: Gorgeous hotel, great food

Fiesta Americana Merida is a great hotel ideally located and stablished on a gorgeous building. Although is part of a major Mexican hotel chain it really respects the look of the city (white colonial buildings). It's very spacious as well. Can be a little ...

Quick review of Capitan Hook and his Crew, Cancun, Mexico
Review of Capitan Hook and his Crew, Cancun, Mexico by
joolzr
just came back from cancun yesterday and spent the saturday night of our holiday (myself and my 17 year old daughter)on the captain hook trip. i have to say i'm quite hard to amuse!! but the captain hook trip was a scream from beginning to end. i've genuinly never laughed as much and my daughter felt the same. it was a great night out for all ages, little ones were kept amused by the younger pirates who took them on a treasure hunt whilst the captain and the other pirates entertained the adults. the games were cheesy but soooooo funny too!
i will definatly do this trip again and would recommend it to everyone. the food was delicious and drinks flowing.

Quick review of Hotel Santa Fe, Cabo San Lucas
Review of Hotel Santa Fe, Cabo San Lucas by
waste07
I went in April 2008 I was very impress with the serviced and hospitatality of the staff. I loved the clean lobby and facility. The thing I was diappointed was with the food they offer even though it had 5 diffrent restaurants they all had the same food. When I made reservations for the Mexican and Steak House I was hoping for a diffrent expierence but it was the same starters from the buffet and the dessert was the same from the buffet. I would not go again to this hotel. I would pay a little more for a diffrent hotel that offer better food next time.
