I have a peaceful and relaxing getaway on last May 2008 during my stay at Krabi La Playa Resort. I actually booked by internet and i never been to Krabi before. When i first put my step at the hotel lobby the friendly staff was very friendly & welcome. When i see the view and my bed room i can't stop my self saying "O my God", its just like a peaceful & beautiful place to getaway from the city life. The hotel was clean and located near the Ao Nang beach & local food stall and market. During my stay there, i can only feel relax and look forward to come back there again.

Advantages: nightlife, beaches, local people, fun, everythuing!!
Disadvantages: none come to mind about the area but the flight is long

For information on where to stay and what to do in this less commercialised, less touristy region have a look at www.everythinginnakhon/info. This is an amateur site, very well put together, with lots of photos and new local information being posted regularly.

if this is your first trip to Thailand, don't mess with non-professionals, go straight to the Apex Hotel, for the price it is fantastic value, food great, and staff friendly and professional at the same time, it is situated in the middle of everything, turn left and it is walking street, turn right and it is red light fun, bar across the road, beach 100 meters , simply the best...

Advantages: it takes a long time to get there if you want to waste your time
Disadvantages: steep unwalkable paths, rude staff hardly anything to do once there

Nice Swedish owned guesthouse with nice and clean rooms in the centre of Patong. All rooms have the best speed on internet you can get in Phuket. Connect your laptop by WiFi or LAN-cable. This is an interesting place and you will always meet interesting people here.

My wife and I stayed at the Saboey for 5 days in September 2007 as part of our honeymoon. The hotel gives to the beach, which is its main asset; we also appreciated the free DVDs that were readily available. On the other hand, our watch, credit card and mobile phone got stolen from our room during our stay and the Saboey management refused to refund any of it although it was clear that it was their staff who stole the goods. This is why we would recommend not to go the Saboey; in addition, the restaurant is expensive and the food is poor, you'll find much better places in Bophut for much less money.
