Advantages: Friendly town, good activities - prices are competitive, lots of places to eat, very experienced guides
Disadvantages: prices were fairly expensive compared to other tourist towns - supermarkets prices were noticabley more.

That was an excellent read. I spent only 2 weeks (not long enough) in New Zealand back in 1999 with my parents, a lot of that with family friends in Hamilton, but we did travel around. I liked Christchuch, but only because I got to spend a day ski-ing! by marymoose99
