This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, its even worse than any hostel I have ever stayed in. Its dirty, unsafe, unwelcoming, noisy and generally horrific. I would not be surprised if they rented rooms by the hour. On every floor there is an armed ...

A Fantasic Experience
Review of Selous Game Reserve (Tanzania) by
eGordy
Advantages: The elements of adventure and discovery.
Disadvantages: Not guaranteed to see game like on some other safaris.
I went to Selous Game Reserve in March 1994 as part of a 3-stop holiday to Ras Kutani, Selous and Zanzibar.
We landed at Dar es Salaam after an 11 hour flight from Heathrow and almost immediately boarded a small prop plane to take us to Ras Kutani wher ...

Wildlife and beaches
Review of General: Tanzania by
Rowan
Advantages: Great for animal lovers and safer than solo travel.
Disadvantages: Expensive for what you get.
I chose to take a Kumuka tour through Tanzania and Zanzibar before settling down to work in Kenya. We set off from Nairobi on a 2-week trip that cost me about £500 excluding airfare. In retrospect this seems like a lot of money for what I got, but as a si ...

A game viewer's paradise
Review of Ngorongoro Conservation Area (Tanzania) by
LeilaR
Advantages: Plenty of game in a small area.
Disadvantages: Some animals are now very used to tourists.
The remnants of a volcano and 19km wide, this national reserve is home to a huge variety of fantastic animals. Only accessible by jeep, which you can organise in Arusha or Karatu, it is a totally unspoilt animal’s paradise.
From the crater rim you can ...
