Overall a great experience. Upon arrival a good check in smooth , but needed to get roooms changed as we requested 2 rooms to be on the second floor and beside each other. Stayed in the Catelina , rooms were noisey from the bar next door. Hotel was clean but not a 4 star by Canadian status. Meals were good , buffet had a great change of menu every day. Al la carte restaurants were so so, Ocean Front Grill was a good choice. Very nice pool bar and swim up bar, all staff were friendly , willing to help. Rating from 1 to 10 on overall , i would say a 7. Good value for your money if you are a big eater and drinker. Entertainment was a bit low key but good for a pleasant evening.

Advantages: Beautiful place, lovely people, great service and just plain good fun.

For all you people who are saying this is a bad hotel, in my point of view this is like the best hotel ever!!!!!!Everything is just great....from when you wake up the staff are already there with plenty of activities to do......there is the beautiful beach really close..each restaurant serves really wonderful food!!!!!And the best part is the nightlife with the super shows...honestly i've never seen such good dancers before!!!!:) and for the hotels they're okay anyways who cares we only sleep a few hours there so.....We're going back for our fourth time and we're still not tired of it !!!!!

I have just returned from the Hotel Riu Merenge and what a disappointment! 5* it isn't. There are just two restaurants to choose from, one a buffet style restaurant where youa re waiting for up to 15 minutes on occasions to get seated and a 'a la carte' restaurant, which is far from a la carte. the rooms consist of two 3/4 beds pushed together with families of up to four people having to share and the only air conditioning in the place is in your room itself, so eating is very uncomfortable. The hotel shop is beyond extortionate and there is a real lack of anything to do here - the entertainment is so poor its insulting. Benidorm in the carribean is the most apt description!

Visited here for 2 weeks in June 2007, and loved every second! Staff very helpful at all times, lots of activities (beach volleyball, water & beach aerobics, water sports, crazy games!). Can't wait to go back!
