Muscat - Capital of Oman

Advantages: Friendly people, nice hotels, some nice things to visit, good weather

To answer MALU's question, in my experience and from what was sister has told me many people do speak english in Oman and even though you may get afew stares from the men and women!! they are all very friendly. by charlieh46

Again not a destination I have am ever likely to visit, but with my work spanning ever large ever growing areas of the globe, who knows? Certainly one to bear in mind, although I must confess to being very cheeky with room service menus, and will often check other hotel menus and then just ask for what I want, only once have I been refused, and ironically that was the London Heathrow Marriott, a chain I would have expected to make the effort, oh well!! Advantages: Sunny all year around, breath taking scenery (mountains and beaches), an amazing culture a must see is the forts, the palace, a ride in an abra (little boat hope i spelt it right), lovely people, cheap gold!!!! (ladies.. phew)
Disadvantages: Long flight from the UK, you have to know where to go,unfortunately becoming more westernised

Still as beautiful but now the taxis are all metered as only locals drive them now, still a lovely place to go and we often motor down from Dubai for the weekend. ~ Carol by Sunshine22

Oman - An undiscovered beauty!

Advantages: Warm weather all year round, Absoloutley beautiful beaches and scenery, Great wildlife tours i.e. Turtle beaches, Friendly and helpful people, generally cheap
Disadvantages: Many products unavailable due to its remoteness, can be extremely hot from May to September, Excluding main cities - not many people speak english and will need an Arabic phrasebook
