I've had mine for about 3 years and the battery has stopped recharging and so I was gettng a continual beeping. Removed device from light fitting last night and it is still beeping 24 hours later. On the detector it says "replace detector by the year 2013". Unfortunately, didn't keep the packaging. 3 stars for 3 years.

This model suffers from going off for no reason, what I can't believe is why it has not been recalled, this a serious safey risk. The false alarms may result in people sabotaging the alarm with very serious consequences.

I purchased two of these devices in December 2007, plugged in the first one and it worked fine, but didn't install the second one in another part of the house until a couple of months later. The second one would started chirping within a few minutes of the initial 8-hour charging period being completed and would not charge. By this time I had lost my receipt, so I contacted Fire Angel directly, who told me although they give a 10-year guarantee, without a receipt they can do nothing. Unless you want to keep a till receipt for 10 years, I suggest you buy something else.

God I've got one of those door and drawer obsessed little boys. (not so) funnily enough, the only time he's ever hurt himself, well, actually I hurt him... I had no idea he was screaming because he'd got his fingers trapped in the gap at the back of his bedroom door; so naturally I went bounding in there - throwing the door open as I went. Hi there. The whole point of the 'trip bar' is so that you do not have to drill any holes into the wall in order for the gate to stand up - it rests on the bar. Every pressure gate is the same. If you don't want a trip bar, you have to buy a wall mounted gate. SImple. This is an unfair point in an otherwise interesting review. by Hotbern

We spent over £20 on one of these from argos, after finding that ebay prices often exceeded the RRP. That was back in April, and we haven't been using the gate for its intended purpose - it keeps the puppy out of the kitchen - but we're still disappointed by the flimsy handle and think that it would have broken anyway. I bust it the other day by getting a bit caught on the handle when it was in an upright position. On the positive side, the gate was extremely easy to mount securely, and we could have moved it around the house without leaving marks or indentations on the door frames - it is a very good design in this respect.
