Never ever ever go with swinton!!!! They gave me a quote through tesco compare and then must have decided they had quoted it too low so decided to lie on the certificate claiming that i had typed in that i had been driving longer than i actualy have. When i called them enquiring he said very rudly that there was nobody in between me and the keyboard and that i must have typed it wrong. I then told him i had proof that i had not typed it incorrect and he said well u must be lying and then told me that the price of insurance was going to shoot up £800 ontop of the £1450 for the year...What a joke! Never go with them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My manufacturer's warranty ran out in July and I set up with Warranty Direct in the August, paying month by month. No yearly fee. My alternator went in October and I made a retrospective claim - not having my policy details with me. I took my car to the nearest garage, which was not a network garage, and I received full payment after paying a small excess fee. I would highly recommend taking out a Warranty Direct policy. For me it has paid for itself already. A+ service. And I will stay with them.

Dreadful, aweful, terrible, inefficient, expensive, don't do what they say, don't pay up, excessive and hidden charges I could go on. My only advice is use another insurance company even if they are slightly cheaper.

My car was burnt in an arson atteck and most of the trauma I sustained from the incident came from Direct Line. MIsinformation, lost documents, slow letters, different people every time, broken promises and overall shoddy behaviour. Ripoff and Runs could do better.

Interesting write-up - I had a bad experience with Elephant recently as a third party, when one of their insureds crashed hard into my car parked in front of my house, writing it off. It took them months to organise payment despite it obviously being an open and shut case and I had to ring them constantly to chase up, each time speaking to a different person who told me that only one file handler could deal with it, and this person was permanently on voicemail and never returned calls. I worked in insurance for a few years ages ago, and it really opened my eyes - they do swindle the customer every way they can, while raking it in and taking fat bonuses! This company sounds like one to particularly avoid, and I too had a bad experience with Elephant as well - one of their insureds crashed into my car while it was parked in front of my house, so an open-and-shut-case, yet it took MONTHS of chasing them every few days to get them to pay up! by thereddragon
