Review of Hoodless Brennan and Partners plc. by Rookiedealer From finding the Hoodless Breenan site to making my first deal took less than 30 minutes. I emailed them to ask about the cost of selling all my shares in one stock if they were purchased through multiple transactions and received a positive reply within hours. Their site is out of action today but, that apart, my experience has been very positive. Read review Ciao members have rated this review on average very helpful Ciao members have made 7 comments about this review View comments brereton66 summary below is almost correct, that you lose money for each point so should you bet on a share to rise at £5 a point, but it falls, then you pay £5 per point it falls, or win £5 per a point it rises, and conversely you bet on a share to fall, you lose money for each point it rises. Though there are sophisticated means within spreadbetting accounts for limiting how much profit and liability you will take / risk, so for example you can bet on a share to rise, but only bet upto it rising 1 point, and limit your liability (normally 10% of the share value is the minimum liability) ... so someone could reasonably predict that if RBS goes to 70p it will go to 71p (win £5), however it reaches 70p but then drops to 68p, you lose the difference between 68p and your prediction of 71p, 3 points x £5. IT IS NOT TO BE TRIED LIGHTLY by llbcollins If I understand spreadbetting correctly it is far closer to gambling than stock trading. You're betting on future events in this case share price but it could easily be the weather or tv viewing figures. And like gambling you need two sides, someone to set the price and someone to take the price and it's usually the ones setting the price that come out winners. I've also heard that although you can win big your losses could also be enormous, many multiples of your original stake. Say you think RBS shares will be higher than 75p on a given day and you bet £5 a point. If the share goes up to 80p you've made £25 but if it drops to 70p you lose not only your stake but another £20 as well. If you want to trade shares in any kind of serious way avoid like the plague. Fine if you just want to buy stock and hold it. But if you want to trade during any kind of market volitility they will block your sale unless you use thier best price service. This means that you cannot get market price and might well lose money. I now have shares I cannot sell for fear of making a loss because I have no idea what price I am selling at. Review of Hoodless Brennan and Partners plc. by jameswinter a very basic and error prone platform. this is just for amateurs looking to save a few quid per trade. Ive had multiple trade execution fails (about 15%25 failure rate) where the trade does not execute (missed 500 quid gain on the trade). if you just need the occasional, simple trade (no short selling, margin or anything else), it may be ok, but frankly the platform is not convincing. i'll be switching to someone like ETrade who are investing in their platform.
