Towns-Online.co.uk looks like it could become an excellent resource for the UK. At the moment it has information for locations centering around London, but promises to expand soon.
The idea of the site is that it provides information on different villages, towns and cities around the UK, with information about counties themselves too.
The information is a combination of historical info and practical details for both tourists, curious browsers and ... ...variety local links, which could be another local website or an advert for the local bakers. Other relevant information such as upcoming events in the area also seem to exist for some places.
Most counties are covered it claims to have information on over 1300 locations and is rapidly expanding. Additions and corrections seem to be welcomed in the form os text, images or links and any work not compiled by the Towns-Online site is credited.
