If you are new to cloth nappies, this is THE website to know! Not only it will give you all the details and tips on choosing and using your nappies, a detailed description and tips for each kind of nappy and wrap available, but you can also buy your nappies from there from a very wide variety of brands, and at a reasonable price.

I found this website by chance, and since then it has soon become my reference concerning cloth/cotton nappies: which one to chose, how to use them, with which kind of wrap, etc, etc…
Twinkleontheweb.co.uk is personally maintained by Miranda Stamp Briley Cottage, Beggars Hill Road, Lands End, Twyford, RG10 0UB, who also offers a Nappy Help Line: Telephone 0118 934 2120 available 24 hours a day.

If you are not (yet) sure whether to use cloth nappies, I advise you to read the first chapter: Why Choose Cloth Nappies, which details the three main arguments in favour of using cloth nappies: save the environment, saves money, saving baby from potential problem in the future.

Once you are really convinced, then you can go to the next step, an excellent guide through the different kinds of real nappies available, in the section Chosing/Using Cloth Nappies on left-hand menu. There she explains, with photo and legends, the different nappy types:
(1) the two-part nappy systems, which requires a Wrap or cover, usually breathable of waterproof material, the absorbent nappy itself which can be either Flat Nappies (terries and prefolds) or Shaped Nappies- sized or One-Size Fits All Nappies, and finally on the top a liner (for poo-catching); and
(2) All-in-one, one part nappies, in which the waterproof wrap is the external part of the absorbent nappy and must be washed with the nappy, but you also have Quicker Drying All In One Type Nappy systems in which the 2 bits can be separated for washing and drying.

Then she details in a practical way the different tips/criteria on how to choose your nappies: cost; ease of use, quick to dry, absorbency, for a wriggly baby, for a baby that can undo Velcro, for a breastfed baby with more runny poo, more than one baby in different ages. This excellent section continues with How many nappies will I need?, Washing - Frequently Asked Questions, and finally: Glossary.

On the left-hand menu column, you can now go to the point: 'START SHOPPING HERE'.
Despite of this title, you can still find here a lot of information, before (or even without!!) buying anything!
Especially useful is the a quick search on a particular product, just type the name of the product in the 'QuickSearch', and you'll find (almost all the time – except for Bambino Mio, not in stock) the product you are looking for.
Now you can also visit section by section, starting with Nappies & wraps: the different categories, including Organic nappies and wraps. The best section of this site. Unlike many other websites I have visited selling cloth nappies, this one provides you a detailed description with comments on the different choice criteria (cost, ease of use, quick to dry, material, place of fabrication, best wraps needed, particularities, etc…). You can visit section by section, and see all the different brands, compare the prices yourself, and make yourself a very good idea, as if you were in a shop guided by an excellent, experienced and independent seller.

You can also find to buy: Nappy boosters and liners, Nappy accessories, Nappy starter selections: newborn basic, newborn deluxe fitted, terry. Potty training/bedwetting
Different babycare products, clothing, slings,… With, again, a full detailed description and comment.

Few points not so good: on the left-hand menu, the section What's New doesn't work, and the section Real Nappy Events will be interesting only to those of you who live in a few places mentioned there. The section Nappy Natter is quite new and provides a forum for discussion about real nappies, but so far, there are few interventions. Better go and have a look at the Forum/parenting issues/cloth nappies in ukparents.co.uk: much more interesting and lively!! The section Nappy Auctions is not very active, and if you wish to buy second-hand (or sometimes new or almost new) nappies, you'd better go to the Forum/Noticeboards and General/Buy & Sell – Nappies in ukparents.co.uk.
