UK2.net are probably the most high profile of all the domain name registration companies, currently charging under £10 to register the UK domain name of your choice.I've bought a couple of names from them and cannot fault the service. They offer free web forwarding and unlimited e-mail addresses and e-mail forwarding in the price, but beware, for this you have to put up with their pop-up banner on diversion. You'll have to pay extra to divert without this.
However my biggest qualm about this company is that you have to pay to transfer the domain name out if you wish to use another host. They claim that this is because they are charging you next to nothing on the name, but since other companies are now offering registration for £9.99 (eg After Domains)without any restrictions, £19 to transfer seems excessive.
I haven't used them to host my site, preferring to forward to my existing site, partly because they don't offer the same range of services, and partly because the impression I get from the site is that they are more interested in selling names than providing a service. This may be unfair of me, based only on instinct, but all over the front page is free this and free that and no mention of hosting services. I'd be more comfortable if hosting came first and sales second.
