Advantages: Very good prices Disadvantages: Poor range and slow delivery
The book I ordered two books a couple of weeks before Christmas didn't arrive until after Christmas day. The range of books they have to choose from (I have to choose one within a certain amount of time like any book club) is not too good and since they spoilt a christmas present for somebody I don't really feel like I want to order from them again! uk.bol.com is one of the sites I sometimes use for buying books. The site has the following advantages
- very cheap. A new hardback bestseller frequently sells for £7.99 compared to £11.99 or more on other websites .
-good range of new fiction, tv tie-ins and cookery books
-cheap delivery: only £1 per item and free if you order 3 or more books.
-the site is easy to search and navigate.
-when you become a member of the site you only need to order ... ...membership agreement. This is not at the hugely inflated price of other book clubs I have been members of.
However the site also has the following disadvantages
-painfully slow delivery. Do not order from this site if you need something soon. The earliest I have ever received an order is 3 weeks later. Not ideal for gift buying unless you order weeks in advance. You may have to do as I have done and have to rush to a bookshop at the last minute ...

Advantages: Cheap & cheerful Disadvantages: Rubbish customer service, immediately debit credit/debit card regardless of delivery, small selection of goods
...christmas presents, I checked my uk.bol.com account daily to see if this my account had been 'authorised.' Suddenly, (well about a week later) and with no warning, I found myself unable to log in and the usual asking for my password procedure was no joy either. I emailed uk.bol.com customer services and a week later I was told that my account had not been authorised and therefore, I was no longer a customer.
Annoyed and extremely worried about the ... ...their customer services (which by the way is a call centre somewhere in India by the sounds of things) only to be put in touch with a very incompetent member of staff who kept me on hold whilst she found out 1) why my account had been rejected & 2) when I would get a refund. Let me assure you that this cost a hell of a lot and the response was the usual "your account will be refunded shortly."

I used to use Bol until I changed to Amazon com three, maybe four years ago.
I was in Far-East, and Bol and Amazon looked same and same level customer service.
However, because of quantity of books,viceos, I changed to Amazon. Two years ago, I moved to London, UK, then recently, I found Bol.com again by compare price site for looking for cheap books. I was very happy about it. Then immidiately I decided to order a book. I found a bit strange when ... ...my birth date, mother's maiden name and credit card's security number. Anyway, I ordered a book which supposed receive in 5-7 days. It was 05 Novem ber 2004. A week later, I found that my book has been shipped on 14 November 2004. It was fine. But the book had not been arrived after weeks. They don't use Royal mail. They use third-party carrier.
So, you can't check any ways.
I e-mailed to customer service of Bol.

Advantages: Free p&p when you buy 3 or more books Disadvantages: very slow delivery
Although I only joined uk.bol.com a few months ago, I have already bought what my partner terms as a "disgusting amount" of books from them!
Their prices are excellent compared to other on-line book sellers, and the offer of free p&p with every order of 3 books or more is also an added bonus.
uk.bol.com offer a fantastic range of books, and more often than not, have all the latest releases, which is why they are the first place I normally try when ... ...I have found that when it comes to contacting them regarding this, they have been courtious, helpfull and quick to reply to my e-mails.
All in all, despite the slow rate of delivery I would still have no hesitation in recommending uk.bol.com to anyone out there looking for a bargain!! ...
