I live in the east of England – good old Suffolk to be exact – and I listen to the radio regularly. I normally switch between different stations. I listen to radio one – doesn’t everyone -, SGR – the local station – and Vibe-FM. Whereas the previous two have been up and running for years now, the latter has only being gracing the airwaves since 1994. The new station didn’t appeal to me originally. My pop based music taste meant the new dance-orientated tunes coming out of the speakers was foreign to me so I usually switched off.
Despite this I have grown out of Corona and gone and varied my music tastes towards dance and R’n’B music. I now listen to Vibe Fm very regularly – in fact I am listening to it right now as I write this, now that’s dedication. So why am I writing this now and not earlier in the year? Well, two reasons. I have only been on Ciao for a week now but my main reason is courtesy of my Media teacher at my high school. A couple of weeks ago my coursework consisted – among other things – of writing down what I did which involved Media, you know TV, Radio, Magazines. Well I did this and soon found out that I listen to the radio more than I watch TV and Vibe FM topped my most listened to list. This got me thinking – why do I listen to Vibe FM?
Based down the road from me – literally – Vibe FM is the first ever station which primes itself on playing the most upbeat, popular and dancey tunes around. All through the week, Vibe FM plays the best songs to get you out of bed, get you singing at the mirror and get you humming to annoy all of your friends. Although I like the new tracks, I am intrigued by all of the old stuff which was way ahead of its time – Livin Joy, Dreamer and N-Trance, Set you free are absolute classics.
These songs are backed up by fun, peppy and lively presenters. The morning presenters Jus Glynn and Sam are my favourite as they help me forget my woes as I stroll along Fornham road to school. Other presenters like Glynn White and Buster Brooker are also great at what they do and put the unfunny and generally irritating Mark and Lard to shame.
I try to listen to Vibe FM as many times as I can. When I wake up on those cold, wet and dreary days I flick my radio remote control and Vibe FM will come on to bring a little more sunshine into an otherwise boring morning. I listen to it on my Walkman on the way to school, at lunchtime and sometimes on the way home – okay, I do like Chris Moyles as well. At the weekend I listen to it in the mornings, especially when the top 20 dance tunes around is on.
So if you are ever in the area – you can pick it up in Corby if you travel over the A14 – just find it on at 105-108fm and you wont be disappointed because this is the best station in the east of England – at least.
To round off my opinion I am going to run down some of the tunes that you are likely to catch on Vibe FM – you may spot some classics.

So there you go, if you ever grace our presence in the east of England tune in and be impressed. Remember its 105-108FM.
Oh yeah, next week I am going to try and win a mini-disc player on the station. I am going to enter ‘minging singing’, a competition where you have to guess the songs from the presenters bad singing. I will get back to you on how I do – wish me luck.
Advantages: Lots of Dance. Disadvantages: Not in Leicester
Vibe FM is the best radio stattion in the east of England. Being at University in Leicester I am dissapointed to be 10 miles away from the reception I take for granted.
Vibe is far better than anything else in Norfolk/Suffolk etc. There's loads of Dance hits, new and old (or should I say Old Skool) Every now and then there is a Motown classic thrown in too. It is a radio statio that is suitable for all sorts of occasions.
Just steer clear of Debbie ...

Advantages: Excellent music, good DJ's, good reception Disadvantages: Only available in the East of England
...because I can listen to Vibe FM. Vibe FM has been going for a couple of years now and increases in its popularity has quality production every single day.
Vibe FM gurantee's total commitment to playing all genre's of dance music. They play hits from the 80's right through to the most underground dance tunes to be released in the forthcoming months. They have some really excellent DJ's and play a varied selection of dance music, not the same 12 songs ... ...play some cool stuff.
Vibe FM also do there best to organise events and discounted holidays to clubbing destinations. They are apparently great, but I haven't experienced them yet, but will do one day.
If you live in his area, you can tune in on 105-108 FM, depending on where you live. There are rumours that Vibe FM are going to go national. I hope this is true, I think everyone will love it. I would be prepared to put money on them for becoming ...

...of the time, but when Vibe FM came out I tuned in and have never turned back. Another good thing about Vibe-FM is that they do sets at the local clubs throughout the week. They have slots at The Junction in Cambridge; De Niro's in Newmarket and various other clubs around the region. So if you can't tune in then you can always go clubbing and check out what tunes are in and what is out! I only have one small gripe, and that is the amount of ads and ... ...with this if it means that I am supporting a local station that keeps me entertained. Advantages: good evening music Disadvantages: adverts!!
Well Vibe FM has to be the best local radio station that East Anglia has!! I'm not sure as to what areas it actually covers but compared to other local radio stations we have, this definately stands well ahead of them. I do tend to listen to Vibe FM mainly in the evenings as they tend to play quite a lot of dance hits and remixes, which is what i like best, but they do tend to play a good selection of music throughout the day. My only complaint would ...

Vibe FM classes itself as up to the minute, young and popular. Kinda like your stereotypical American high school cheerleader. However, as good as this is for a short time, it can be found wearing and, dare I say it, samey!
Don't get me wrong, I love this station. However, it does have a tendency to play the same things over and over in the daytime. Evenings and late nights are better, with many shows broadcasting live from clubs in the area. Short ... ...music you can be sure Vibe FM will be playing something lively to tend to the craving. The worst thing about this station is the same as every other local, those darn adverts! I guess we should be thankful as they fund the station, but they are so damn annoying!! If you're not careful you can find yourself singing along to windows salespeople and dodgy car ads!!
The morning show leaves a lot to be desired…but for those who love loads of adlibbing ...

Come on Radio 1, you can do better. The only reason I listen to this show is because of the good programming in the evening and p1ss poor standard of local radio in Leicester.
I need VibeFM here too. ...

THE MARK & LARD SHOW
Every lunchtime when I am bored I get my walkman out at school and listen to something on the radio. Due to the lack of stations around East Anglia we have VibeFM (great station), SGR (average local station) and Radio 1. And around this time it is the Mark & Lard show. Now I have tried to listen to it but I cant. I really hate the show! I feel sad for feeling so strong about it, but is there really anyone out there who thinks they are funny. I listened to it in the holidays when I couldn’t get anything else and I just found it so boring and not funny. For instance the ‘top 10 songs of….’ is well and good but when he keeps going ‘who!!’ every few seconds it grates like a bad headache and gets so on my nerves I have to turn over. I ...

Advantages: Only the good radio 1 playlist Disadvantages: Sara Cox
I think Radio 1 should stop trying to re-create the chaos that was Chris Evans and give the show to someone more proffesional, such as Scott Mills. He does a good job standing in. When are they going to stop employing these TV presenters who have no clue about how to do a radio programme?? Sara Cox is as bad if not worse than Zoe Ball was. Radio 1 are desperate. The days of the radio 'posse' are numbered. At least on Atlantic 252 and VibeFM the DJs are hired for their talent and ability to produce a decent radio show (females included) not their looks or celebrity status ...
