When is a duster not a duster ?
When it's a Vileda Dust Cloth !!!

Is this new 100% microfibre soft dust cloth by Vileda my miracle ticket to becoming a domestic whizz ?

Probably not, but it's not bad, and is almost as good as the packaging blurb says it is !
I'll explain about the product first then give you my opinion based on my useage around my home.

THE PRODUCT

32cm X 32cm yellow dusting cloth which is 110% microfibre.
It is soft and exceptionally lint free as advertised.
It can be used wet or dry, without polish or any other cleaning products.
It has a feel to it sort of midway between a normal household duster and a dry chammy leather.

THE PACKAGING

Each cloth is individually wrapped with a cardboard outer cover in bright blue on the top half of the cloth with the extraordinary brilliance of the power of the microfibres written across the front.

THE CLAIMS

No polish needed.
Removes even greasy finger prints.
Can be washed in a 60c wash then drys good as new

WORKS BECAUSE

Each cloth claims to have millions of microscopic fibres that absorb dirt and dust quickly.

MY REALITY BASED ON PERSONAL TESTING AROUND MY HOME.

Firstly the Vileda 100% Microfibre dusting cloth is yellow and 32cm x 32cm as stated in all of the blurb on the pack.
It does feel somewhat like a good old fashioned duster, but a high class duster if there is such a thing.
As it states on the pack that no polish is needed, and it can be used on electrical appliances, my initial thought was that it would be great to used on the tv screen and computer moniter, so this was my first job.
I quickly flicked over the tv screen, without polish, and stood back to get a better look at the results, it looked good, considering my toddler grandson had been round earlier and left his little prints on it.
Suitably impressed, I moved on to the glass on the conservatory doors, these also had little 'i've just had a sarnie' fingerprints on them.
It was a little harder to get these clean, so I wet a Vileda 100% microfibre dusting cloth, wrung it out as hard as I could, (this made it have a feel of a chamois leather when wet), wiped the glas clean then dried the glass with a dry Vileda 100% microfibre dusting cloth. Again I stood back to admire the results and was again suitably impressed.
There was no stopping me now, I whizzed around the oak furniture in the downstairs of the house, which came up to a lovely shine.
I took my miracle cloths upstairs and proceded to clean the bathroom, using the wet cloth, dry cloth routine I had used downstairs on the conservatory glass doors.
The enamel bath sink and chrome taps came up great.

I was well impressed and it seemed so quick as there was no rinsing of cleans ect.
By the time I had finished upstairs, the sun had started to shine. This was when I started to feel a little let down.

As the beautiful sunlight bounced across my front room, it showed my grandsons handprints on the tv screen not quite gone as I had first thought.

They were just a smear, but still there none the less.
I got my dry cloth and wiped the screen again, the smeared prints were still there waving back, so I got the polish out did a quick spray on to the cloth, wiped again and they were gone.

Next into the conservatory, and again there were smears on the glass, not quite as bad as the tv screen as I had used the wet cloth dry cloth routine, but still a few smears. I got the glass cleaner out, again only used a little squirt on the dry cloth and the smears were gone.

The oak furniture still looked polished even though the sun was shining over it, and the enamel bath and sink and chrome taps looked clean and shiney without the use of detergent.

MY CONCLUSION

I was impressed with most items I had cleaned with the Vileda 100% Microfibre dust cloth, ie the bathroom and the furniture, I was even impressed with the results on the tv and glass doors on the conservatory as I only had to use a very small amount of detergent to get them clean.

THE AFTER CLEAN !

Although I had spent quite a while cleaning, polishing and buffing, without the use of much cleaning solutions, the house looked clean but didnt have that freshly polished smell or freshly cleaned bathroom fragrance that I normally get when using my old duster and cleaning cloth in the bathroom.
Even though everywhere looked clean, it did'nt really smell clean.
This is brilliant if you have any allergy sufferers in the house, or if you just don't like using cleaning products, as the results are good without products.

I have come to a friendly compromise with my Vileda cloths and use them all of the time now for different jobs.
I have one in the kitchen for the surfaces, which I use wet with a very small squirt of cleaning product.
I have one in the bathroom and just put loo cleaner down the loo, and use just the cloth for cleaning the bath ect, no cleaning products.
I have one under the sink I use just for polishing furniture and tv/computer screens, using very little polish usually after a visit from my grandson !
And I have one that I use for glass such as mirrors and windows, usually with a very small squirt of window cleaner.

I have washed my cloths several times, I usually chuck all of my cleaning cloths in the washing machine once a fourtnight without washing powder, wash on 60 wash if they are really grubby or usually on a 30 min eco wash.
I then hang them all on the line for half an hour, as they cant be tumble dried, or drape them over the radiators if they are on, and so far they have come up good as new every time.

THE PRICE & MONEY SAVING

At the moment Amazon have a fantastic deal on a pack of 12 of these cloths for £1.99p + £5.99p packaging, thats a fantastic saving of 92%.
RRP is £23.97p free postage through Amazon for a pack of 12.
I have seen these advertised on other websites for a pack of 12 for around £20.

Not only can they be bought at a bargain price at the time of writting this review, you will save money on cleaning products.
I probably use 75% less polish and cleaning solutions than I did before using these cloths.

I would definately recommend these cloths to friends and family, espeacially at the bargain price Amazon are selling them for at the moment.
Although I did'nt find them quite as brilliant as the advertising blurb, they are almost as brilliant and certainly worth a try.

Not forgetting how great these are for alergy sufferers and people with asthma.
