Virgin began in the 1970s with a student magazine and small mail order record company. Their growth since then has been impressively fast. One look at there website at: www.virgin.com, tells it all.
They cover so many different products and services. However unlike other websites, all the products and services are under one umbrella. The Virgin Group Umbrella.
In some ways this is good as everything can be consolidated ... ...to complacency by some users and therefore they might miss out on better offers elsewhere.
The range of products and services covered are very vast and although I would like to elaborate on them all, I don’t think this would have been advisable otherwise this opinion would be everlasting. Therefore I will list the various categories and products/services offered under these categories, for easy reference.

In some ways this is good as everything can be consolidated and done faster. On the other hand this may lead to complacency by some users and therefore they might miss out on better offers elsewhere.

Once on the Virgin homepage, all the links for products and services are on the left hand side of the screen. All links for the various Virgin companies are on the right hand side. In the middle of the page is a Java Applet that will load the relative information once a link has been clicked. Once you place your mouse over a product or service then the relative Virgin Group companies, mentioned on the right hand side of the page, are highlighted.

They will shortly be launching a Free e-mail service (V-Mail).
They will also soon be launching something that they call V-Wallet This they claim will make it easier and safer to shop online. Once you register your details once with Virgin.com, and then whenever you visit any Virgin website your v.wallet will, if you want, fill out any forms with all your personal details including delivery/billing addresses, credit card and other personal details, automatically and securely. This will also enable you to have a single receipt for all your on-line Virgin purchases.
It goes without question that Virgin are a dynamic and well reputed company and presently is the third most recognized brand in Britain. They operate 200 companies worldwide, employ 25,000 people and had sales of £3 billion pounds.
Overall I was quite pleased with the site and the services and products offered and highly recommend this to all members.
Advantages: Simple to use, cheap sharedealing Disadvantages: Slow site, not truly independent advice
With lots of advertising Virginmoney is currently branding itself as the best place to begin your financial planning. The site is well constructed and pretty idiot proof. The advice is a little simplistic but generally relevant for most people. A number of wizards help you to make smart decisions, so if, for example, you don’t know what type of ISA you need, it will take you through a set of questions and make some recommendations at the end.
Simple ... ...number of reservations.
1) There are a number of e-partners who seem to get extra profile for their products. It is unclear how independent the advice is about their products and services.
2) The site is slow with bits of flash make some bits down right ponderous.
3) The share dealing system is good value at £14.95 all in with no monthly charges etc. However, it is operated through Sharepeople and doesn’t seem to give you as good access to information ...

Advantages: Clear and easy to navigate Disadvantages: Sometimes too basic an overview
This is a fairly comprehensive online financial service. It offers advice on the increasingly complex possibilities open to the private investor, and has basic explanations of savings plans such as ISAs and Unit Trusts. In addition, there is the opportunity to create "fantasy" share portfolios, so that one can practice dealing in shares without fear of financial loss. Once confidence is high, you can do it for real for a flat commission of £14.95 ... ...Virginmoney is a useful overview for the novice investor, and has wizards to tell you which investment plan would best suit your personal needs, but perhaps one should take care to take some more detailed advice before taking the plunge. As for share dealing, the site, like all of its kind, gives the rather dangerous impression that buying and selling shares is easy. It may indeed be easy to buy them at the click of a mouse, but this can sometimes ...

I have tried desperately to contact you to complain about your appalling service but regret your call centre is unable give us access to your direct customer service email address or fax number. I found it impossible to access you on-line or through your website. Many in our age group would not even attempt to contact you via the website even if it was user friendly to senior citizens or anyone. All you website has is numerous negative feedback from your dissatisfied customers.
Your 0845 numbers are a pain - one has to hold on between 35 and 75 minutes to get a reply and even when one gets a reply it is ...

Advantages: Competitive borrowing rates Disadvantages: Woeful call centre expertise and supporting systems
I decided to move to an offset mortgage because I needed something akin to a large overdraft facility. I had a look at Virgin One, but their lending rates were very expensive compared to IF.
Some bright spark in marketing had the idea of calling the accounts jars. To make any practical use of the offset facility you more or less have to have a current account "jar", with a normal sort code and account number. The other jars are like ordinary bank accounts but lack these attributes which are vital for actually interacting with the rest of the banking system.
There is a big problem about having a large credit balance to offset the mortgage account, because the direct debit mortgage payments are based on the gross debit balance, not the net balance (as I assume it would be in the more straightforward unified account, "Virgin One ...
