The first impressions of this search engine are quite good - on the index page you have the usual search boxes categories and news but if you look a little closer you also get a full list of European countries that have their own specific voila sites. This site works fast and the advanced search is very easy to use.
Not only that but you get services that include chat, translation and active shopper. The chat I tried had some useful bits like temporarily ... ...and active shopper links that most interested me.
The TRANSLATION is powered by Systran (which Altavista also uses). but this seems much faster and better than Altavista, probably because this Search engine is less well known and so has less strain on it. This translation service also takes up less of the screen for it's own gains than Altavista and handles tables quite well but fails when a page contains certain javascripts.
