For some it is the practice to decorate the stick with a ... ...a person.
Some modern walking sticks are used for those engaged in hill walking and other such sports, rather like the ski poles. These are or can be quite a specialist article.
Walking sticks can be made out of various woods or of more modern, utility materials as aluminium. They may be of a fixed size or capable of adjustment as some of the modern metal ones are.
I have several sticks. Most are of wood and are of differing thicknesses. I do ...

Advantages: You can stay upright. Disadvantages: There's never anywhere to put them.
Walking sticks? What can there possibly be to say about walking sticks?
Not much, I thought, until I realised that walking sticks seem to be a recurring theme throughout my life so far.
My introduction to walking sticks came with my Grandpa.
Thinking back I realised that I never saw him without it. Every memory, every photo has the stick in it.
As we only travelled to visit him once or twice a year we were always on our best behaviour, but under ... ...the garden?
Back then all walking sticks seemed to be tipped with metal. I suppose this was to stop the ends wearing away, and I loved the little tapping noise it made as we moved along the crazy paving path.
Back at home I always turned round in the street when I heard a tapping stick because it might be Grandpa. It never was of course. It was usually a "gentleman" and we would stand back politely, to let him pass.
Gentlemen always raised their ...

Advantages: Can take wieght of feet, easier to climb hills Disadvantages: General annoyance to carry around when finished using
I'd never used a walking stick before because I had never generally needed to, but I had an expedition coming up so I decided to give them a go. I had my walking stick, I had my route ahead of me and so I set off. I decided to test out the walking stick on a variety of different terrains - Tarmac, a dirt path, grass and a hill.
As I walked along each of these, with and without the walking stick I noticed that the walking stick really only made a ... ...was a different story, while walking through thick, long grass I found it difficult to walk through it at a steady pace and remain in a good position for my back without the walking stick, whereas with the walking stick I could retain a good position for my back, balance and walk at a comfortable pace through the grass without fear of falling over face first, I could grab onto the stick for balance.
I mainly wanted to test out walking up hills with ...

Advantages: Takes the pain away Disadvantages: Gets in the way
...with the aid of a walking stick. I began to suffer from sciatica in March 2004 and by July 2004 I was in such pain I could only hobble. I must say the tablets I was prescribed did help in the begining but after a very short period of time I was needing more of them to get the same pain relief. In the end my physio recommended I used a walking stick to try and get about and keep a little bit active. This was provided by the local hospital at no cost. ... ...cup of tea with the walking stick was a skill that didnt come to easily, but mastered it as I got better.
The walking stick helped me move about the house, so I wasnt lying still feeling sorry for myself. By now it was summer and I was able to use the walking stick to get me out in to the garden. I have a large garden so I was able to practise with the walking stick more without feeling inhibited. Initially I was very hunched over the walking stick, ...

Advantages: does assist walking Disadvantages: make sure of the reason why your using one
The Walking stick,
I cannot believe I found a review on this item. I suppose there is an whole array of different walking sticks, with multiple uses, some people simply carry them as a gentle walking aid whilst taking a country stroll, where as others may have a much deeper problem, which the walking stick then becomes a general aid.
My husband is one of these people, or I really should say was, 4 years ago on the morning of our family holiday ... ...holiday, he opted for a walking stick, he brought the sturdiest one he could find, and it became almost an instant success, he was able to get around, with little pain.
When we returned home and for two weeks after he continued to use the stick, but then the pain became unbearable and he sort medical advice,
It turned out, he had cracked his spine, and by using the walking stick had caused even more damage.
So enjoy your walking sticks, and enjoy ...

Advantages: Speedy cup of delicious coffee Disadvantages: Not cheap
...and flood the drip tray underneath the cup holder. Believe me, I've tried this and it's not pretty. If making two cups sit them side by side on the cup tray and with luck, if you've got them correctly positioned, two streams of coffee will come out and fill two cups at a time.
Above the nozzle is a lift up lid and once open you can fit either your one or two cup pod/pad holder in and shut and lock the lid by pressing it down until it clicks.
The machine itself is a strange looking contraption which slopes forward in what I suppose is meant to be in a space age ergonomic way but for some reason reminds me of an old man leaning on a walkingstick. Not the intended impression I'm sure but this is my review, so I can think what I want.
It doesn't take up too much space on the worktop if you wish to leave it on display. I've had a quick...

...rocking chair and asked her, all subtle like, ‘Why the hell were there three men screaming in unison out of the top window”, which was my window.
So, whilst I was out looking for more sexually painful treats, me blue rinsed old mam decided to find out what all the fuss was about. Armed with her sturdy oak walkingstick and a can of air freshener (very house proud), she toddled up the stairs and was greeted by my innocent bedroom door.
One karate chop later and there she stood, me pink rinsed old mam, underneath a rubber spiked black ceiling and in between red rubber sheeted walls. The wind wafted in through my fishnet curtains, making the wall cuffs clang together and blew a funny smell in her face. One inhalation of the body fluid scented candles and….

Advantages: Colourful, sticky, obvious Disadvantages: pricey, small
...These things are incredibly useful!! You can leave notes to anybody, just scribble it down, peel of and stick on a wall or counter. Because they are so colourful anybody walking by would spot them right away and read your message. Because they are stickey you can also put them right at eyelevel. I also find them to be great doodle pads or message takers when I am on the phone. On the other hand, they are pretty small and it isn't very convenient to have to peel them off just to carry on writing your message. Furthermore, if you don't really want to waste your money, just cut up pieces of paper and douse them in glue, voila you have a postit. As well as this you really have to use them quickly otherwise they loose their stick. It sort of defeats the purpose. However overall they are incredibly simple and easy, and these are just...
