Basically, you are awarded points for shopping on sites that are WebReward’s partners, all with a British basis. Sadly, there seem to be limited opportunities for earning points just by visiting sites or clicking on ad banners, seems they expect you to buy something!
You will need to register on the site, which is totally free of charge and very straightforward, and you’ll be awarded 10 points for doing so. You don’t need to give your home address and other details until the first time you ‘cash in’ your points! You just need a username and password, and you’re ready to go!
The site offers a fair few partners for you to visit and shop at to earn those elusive rewards. Sites that will give you WRs for shopping with them include Carphone Warehouse, Claripoint, Country Bookshop, Domain Registrars, Fig Leaves, Firebox, Moneygator, Pets Park, Sports.com, Teleflorist and others. A few sites will reward you just for registering with them or subscribing to services. Brandnewmusic.com will give you 20 WRs just for registering if you follow the links on the site. TheTeam@sports.com give you 25 WRs just for registering, StudentUK.com 25 WRS and toptable.co.uk 10 WRS.
Although shopping online at the site’s partner sites seems to be the main way of earning, you can earn free WRs in a few other ways. For example, by sending SMS text messages! These are completely free to send (max. of 94 characters per message) and you are allowed to send one per day earning you 3 points each. A little ad is tagged on to the end of your message advertising the site, but hey, it’s free anyway! You can also earn an extra ten points for each friend you refer to the site, but they also need to spend some cash on one of the partner sites before your referral points are awarded!
Playing LuckySurf will also earn you a few points, you need to register with them and play the lotto game regularly but you’ll be rewarded with 5 points for matching just two numbers (as a special March offer!), provided you give your WR username and password. Matching more numbers will earn you extra WRs.
If you do manage to collect a lot of WRs, you will want to know how to spend them! Just visit the Reward Shop at the main site and you’ll see there a number of options open to you, including donating your rewards to charity if you’re feeling generous! You can also search for ways to cash in your rewards under various categories, Electronics, Books and Magazines, DIY and Gardening, Food and Wine, Home Zone etc.
I checked out the Gadgets & Gizmos category, being a bit of a fan of all things novel and techie, to see what was on offer. Hmmmm, a condom holder could be mine for just 350 WRs!!!!! If that doesn’t appeal, how about a Nunzilla, a wind-up Nun (!) for an extra 25 WRS or even a pair of tiger pants?! These will set you back the huge sum of 800 WRs, and even the fact that they were modelled on an original pair made famous by Robbie Williams wasn’t enough to swing me….I decided to move on…..
On to the Electronics category next, here I found I could choose from various items, ranging from an I-Zone camera for 1300 WRS (the lowest ‘priced’ item) to a Palm Vx for the paltry sum of 14450 WRs! There is a good range of ‘must have’ items here if you can earn enough WRs, to include a Sega Dreamcast, Webcam, Olympus Zoom Camera, MP3 Player and a cordless mouse amongst others.
There are also a few other features on the site you may want to check out. The Community Chest link gives you all the latest site news, horoscopes, the odd competition or two and the Soapbox where you can talk to other members and give feedback on the site. Hosted by Steve, the soapbox gives you the chance to have your say, and you can earn extra WRs if you impress him enough with your comments, anything from 100 up to 1000 for a particularly outstanding attempt. I can see a lot of Ciao members doing well here!
Clicking on the My Account link whilst logged in will show you a summary of all the WRs you have earned and any recent transactions, you can also change your personal details and password here if you wish. I was informed that I only needed another 187 more WRs and I could claim a Club 18-30 holiday voucher, they obviously haven’t looked too closely at my date of birth! Ho Hum!
Overall, it’s a fun site with lots of tongue-in-cheek humour and very easy to navigate. Earning decent rewards isn’t going to be easy by a long chalk, but you have nothing to lose and there are some great items you can claim if you’re prepared to work hard enough. I personally prefer ipoints; they seem to have quicker and easier ways to earn rewards without having to lay out big bucks in the first place, but this site is still worth a look in my opinion.
Advantages: Transfer to ipoints Disadvantages: Closing down soon, lack of W's avaliable
Webrewards is like ipoints, beenz and whatever other rewards programmes may be out there. It has been going for quite a while now but I have only joined recently and haven’t been all that impressed by it really. Maybe if I had joined up a bit earlier I would have found it better, but I didn’t so there we go! It is actually shutting down by the looks of things as they are allowing you to transfer your balance of webrewards into your ipoints ... ...to trasfer them into anything else, you just have to either spend them or loose them! - OVERVIEW The aim of the site is to reward online consumers. Just like ipoints they offer you rewards for buying things online. These come in the form of W’s (Webrewards). These are basically the same as boots advantage points and safeways points whereby points are given to you according to the amount of money you spend. You can then exchange these W’s ...

Advantages: Send free text messages and earn three webrewards daily Disadvantages: Still quite a new scheme but looks promising, cannot redeem webrewards for cash or vouchers
I have had to update this review because Webrewards will soon be no more as it has officially merged with ipoints. Although you can still continue to earn and spend W until the end of August, after this date, the loyalty scheme will cease to exist. Any Webrewards that members have already earned can be converted to ipoints at a rate of 1 ipoint = 3W which, to me, is quite a good exchange rate. As a result of this merger, the redeemable items on the ... ...of the infamous island that you could redeem for one million W).
Purely for nostalgic value, I have left my original review intact (although it probably won't be of much use to anyone now). I suspect that Ciao will delete this category soon but thought that I'd better put in a quick update so that any Webrewards members who haven't visited the site in the past few months could transfer any remaining credits to an ipoints account. If you are not ...

Advantages: good site, good gifts Disadvantages: hard to earn gifts, the closing down bit causes a slight problem...
Update on situation with ipoints is at the bottom.
Updates are throughout the opinion which is now more accurate and up to date.
I have now experienced the full Webrewards…experience, from start to peak to down-turn, so now I am going to express my feelings with the rest of the Ciao community. I was introduced to Webrewards by a mate who was looking for an easy way to earn points through different activities on the web. Have you heard of ... ...are familiar with that name I would imagine. Webrewards is along the same lines. With Beenz you can visit websites and earn Beenz, but Webrewards does, quite unfortunately, not offer this, which I believed to be one of the better features of Beenz. Beenz is now sadly looking to close down, in fact it may have already, so Webrewards may become more popular, as Beenz was a competitor.
What does Webrewards offer? It gives you the opportunity to earn ...

Advantages: Free things! Great choice of rewards! Disadvantages: Can take some time to build enough Webrewards to get a decent gift.
As a committed (yes I should be) freebie-getter, I have been a member of Webrewards for about 9 months now. As you probably all are aware, it is yet another internet rewards site whereby you accumulate webrewards for either purchasing from their partners, or signing up to other sites, filling in surveys - the usual kind of thing. The website itself I think, is very well laid out and easy to navigate. The colour scheme is inoffensive, the design is ... ...you could possibly need from a rewards site here.
When I first joined, there were not many "free" webrewards (from hereon I shall call them WRs) on offer; most of them came when you purchased from their partners; but I think things have got a little better just recently. Now you can earn 3 WRs every day by sending an SMS text message; you can earn by playing Luckysurf, a link to this is on the site; (I have won several WRs through this) and you ...

Advantages: free and fab customer service Disadvantages: are closing atthe end of July 2001
THIS FORM OF WEB-BASED REWARD NO LONGER EXISTS. NEITHER DOES THE WEBSITE.
Webrewards has just merged with ipoints and so I felt it was about time to update this old op! (this is almost a total re-write!)
What are Webrewards?
WRs are a form of internet currency rather like ipoints or MyPoints. You are rewarded with WRs when you spend money with certain partner sites or when you perform certain tasks such as click through banners.
You used to be ... ...and sending SMS messages but alas this is no longer...
SO what's going on?
Well, WRs have merged with ipoints and by the end of July you will no longer be able to collect WRs. The WR site is still operational although things have been scaled down. The earning opportunities are fewer and further between and the range of products that you can trade in for your WRs is diminishing as partners transfer to iponts.
This is not all bad news though. One ...
