...The first time I picked up a JeannieBaker book, I must admit I was somewhat flummoxed. However, after taking a while to look through, and especially after looking at her other titles, I was amazed and have been singing her praises ever since.
Jeanie Baker works in collage, each book is a collection of impressive collages telling a story, all of which have a very powerful message. These books can make wonderful teaching tools for subjects such as art, history, geography, social studies.
Another angle that gives JeannieBaker's work a somewhat magical and mystical quality for the British/ European audience, is the combination of the familiar and the wonderful, breath-taking beauty of Australian landscapes and wildlife.

Advantages: A compelling and interesting read Disadvantages: It's 883 pages long
...meet the Prides, canny and proud inhabitants of the forest. The Furzeys their arch rivals. There are also the, Albans, Martells, Puckles, Tottens and the wonderful Mrs Grockleton who could have been a relative of Mrs Bucket.
The New Forest is a mysterious and magical place and as the story unfolds we are treated to witchcraft poaching, smuggling and an ancient bed with apparent magical powers.

...house, Honora does her best to make it as clean and domesticated as possible, and a fine little place to call home; where she cooks delicious meals, all with Sexton in mind. When she is not doing these homely chores being the best wife she can despite all the difficulties, she is walking the beach collect sea glass of all colours shapes and sizes. Sexton buys a Buick and they seem headed for a life of domestic and wedded bliss. But a turn of events due to the mill workers strike will shatter this safe repose, as the mill workers confront the authorities for more money and life now is different for all concerned more different than you can imagine.
Amongst the cast of characters you will meet Virginia who befriends Honora, Virginia's friend Dickie, Alphonse and of course McDermott a loom worker at the mill and develops a terrible crush...
