Whsmith wasted my time! Firstly, I chose to try out Whsmith online because they have excellent discounts (up to 50% on some books), their website looked good, and they’re a reputable high street chain. They sell various products on their site including:
>Books
>Magazines
>Stationary
>DVD
>Videos
>Music
>Games

Oredered a book for some friends for Christmas in plenty of time for it to arive, the other sites all had the book in stock but WHSmiths was cheaper so as they said it was in stock we went with them. A week later and aproaching the last post my wife decided to contact them about the order as we had not heard when it would be delivered. Then the day before the last post (and possibility of ordering elsewhere) we got a mail saying that they may need ... ...day with another mail stating the book has moved to a new isbn?? and because of this they have cancelled our order and we would have to re order at a new higher price which was way over what we could have bought it for on amazon. I am still waiting for a response from them which according to there site should be within 48 hours it has now been 72 hours and none the wiser. It is now too late to re order the book with another site and our closest friends ...

Advantages: Quick and easy ordering, Postage charges specified up front, some of the cheapest prices around Disadvantages: Website could do with improving, too much info at times
I had tried amazon, I tried CDwow and i have to say I was not impressed with either of them. So a friend recommended WHSmith.
And with great trepidation I went and looked at thier site. I was pleasently suprised with what I found, easy to navigate, well layed out ( although there was a bit too much content at times, and I found this quite distracting).
I found the book I was after ( Hellbound Heart by Clive Barker) and ordered.
48 hours later, ... ...was that when you order they give you a estimate for delivery( norm 72hrs) but 98% of the time it will be a lot faster than the estimate.
Already they are taking orders for the new Harry Potter Book, and at half the marked price as well. Amazon are pre-ordering it for £16.99, Countrybooks pre-order for £11.80, WHSmith pre-order £8.50.
Cheap, speedy, and a name you can trust.
What more can you want?
How about an Out of print book search facility? ...

Advantages: NO NEED TO WALK FROM SHOP TO SHOP Disadvantages: none found on this particular section
Like many children I had favourite childhood book which I loved and unfortunately lost,it meant a great deal to me and I really wanted to find it again but to no avail.
However I heard about online book buying and thought I'd give it a try.I went to my usual search engine and found the WHSmith site and clicked away. The site loaded quickly and the home page was clear and straightforward. You can search for books by either title or author and you do ... ...will search as many titles pertaing to the word by the author, good if you don't know both the author and/or title.
I was not really certain if I had found the book as details were few but then I noticed a section"Out
of print books",so again I clicked and put in the relevant search details within a minute it had come up with about ten books and their owners from Britain and abroad. The owners give a brief summary of the content condition any defects ...

Advantages: The prices seem reasonably competitive and they do have a wide range of stock. Disadvantages: Late or even no delivery, poor online ordering information.
I've been using the internet for about 8 years now and I'm a heavy user (by which I don't mean I weigh a lot, but I am probably online for around 8 hours per day). However, I have only been a regular online shopper for the past 2 years or so. During this time, I have had no complaints at all and I have used a lot of different companies - amazon, bol, cd101, jungle, evesham, dabs and even Sainsburys and Tescos.
Perhaps these companies are to blame ... ...it's not actually Smith's fault that I expect next day delivery unless the item is not in stock when I expect a next-day email informing me of this. I expect to be able to log in to my account and instantly see the status of my orders (and the correct status I might add!). Perhaps I expect too much.
I won't bore you with the full details of my ordering nightmare, but I will sum up what happened to back up my grievances. I placed an order for 2 DVD's ...

Don’t use WHSmithonline.co.uk
OH MY GOD! This is probably the worst place I have shopped online in the last few months. <<<<>>>>
I thought I would order some books for college with WHSmithonline as the site seemed to offer a good price on books that was much cheaper than books in Waterstone's. I thought it would be a great idea to as I could get clubcard points on all orders and bonus points for ordering online (more ... ...added all the books I wanted to the basket and purchased them…
<<>>
1.As soon I had ordered the books I thought I would login to my account to view my order status and make sure that it listed the right titles. So I entered my details and clicked on “login” only to be shown an error page. I couldn’t log onto my account at all for the rest of that day.
2.The next day I decided to try again and the same ...
