In no uncertain terms, World Books are a prime example of new age vagabonds. I have yet to meet anyone who has had a good experience of this company and I sincerely doubt I ever will. I have decided to update this review as I recieved this morning yet another batch of "please won't you come back to us we loved you so..." leaflets wrapped up in very probably non-biodegradable plastic, and with no ... ...to someone who is blatently NOT INTERESTED), or indeed, for that matter, my very specific requests on numerous occassions that they DO NOT CONTACT ME AGAIN EVER, posted to my home for me to get cross over, be late for work because I am cross over, and be forsced to find the extra 2 minutes in my day to recycle said literature. As you can probably tell, I am not a happy bunny. Being on the mail preference service means that it is ILLEGAL for them ...

Advantages: i cant think of any Disadvantages: i need to write a novel on this
I love reading books and came across a site which claimed to sell books at just 1 p on getting registered. Fair enough, the deal was good and I couldnt resist. It was only after a few days I got shocks of my life. book club started sending me books which I didnt even order! and to my horror, when I checked my online account, I had been slapped a bill of 35 pounds. When I questioned them about this, they said that the books were the Editor's choice ... ...send, they assume you are interested and would send them out. and this would happen every month. I immediately returned the lot of books the very next day. Though my account was settled, yet I was charged 4.95 for the late returns. I kept emailing them regularly with my complaints about the unwanted books and the unfair charge of late returns(that was the only way of communication as their phoneline is automated) but all my complaints fell on deaf ...

Advantages: Disadvantages: Attempts to obtain money for unsolicited goods
In early spring a representative from WorldBooks telephoned me to welcome me to the club. At the time I told him I had not joined any book club nor did I intend to do so. He laughed and said that maybe it happened because of a "click-through" from another website. As it happens, I am a member of a couple of websites that promote different offers and competitions from various companies and which hold my personal details. I only ever "click-through" ... ...obtain further information on a company or product. I agreed that it was possible I had clicked to find further information and reiterated I had not intended to join any club. We finished the conversation and I assumed that was the end of it.
In April I then received a parcel of books, which I returned to WorldBooks with a letter explaining the misunderstanding, stating that I had never agreed to join the club and did not wish to receive any goods ...

Advantages: Up to date books at great prices. Delivered promptly Disadvantages: The need to remember to accept or decline monthly book.
I have been a member of World Books on two occassions and I have to say that this time around it has been much more enjoyable. The first time around I had trouble remembering to accept or decline the book of the month and consequently ended up with books I did not want. I therefore decided to cancel my membership.
A few years ago I was sent details of their offer again. Upon reading it I found out that they now had a website to browse through - ... ...is very useful, however the most useful thing that they now do is having the ability to make your editor's choice on line. Also if you decline their original choice they will offer you an alternative. The site is very easy to use and you are able to do all your transactions on line. Their delivery times are excellent and I have had no problems of any sort with them. ...

Advantages: Introductory offer saves you £££'s Disadvantages: Not enough stock to meet demand user account info inaccurate
In October this year I received info through the post about Worldbooks their introductory offer was terrific and I joined straight away most of the books I ordered (on the 9th of October) were to be Christmas presents. Sadly here I sit on the 15th of December still awaiting over half my original order! I logged onto the Worldbooks website two weeks ago and checked my account to find my books had been despatched but they have still never arrived. ... ...yesterday only to be told that the books I had ordered were out of stock. It seems that the information I have received by post, website and telephone varies a great deal! Also trying to contact them by telephone or E-mail is no easy task.
Whilst the books I have received are of good quality I warn anyone who joins worldbooks that you are in for a long wait!! ...
