Advantages: Great way to stay in touch with world affairs Disadvantages: Takes the fun out of SW
When I was little I was always a bit of a radio geek, often staying up late at night with a little short wave radio trying to catch the English services from all those far away places, tuning really slowly through all the background noises you get used to on short-wave…
Some time ago I managed to get hold of a really good SW radio and spent ages setting up long wire antennae in the back garden, sorted.
Then along comes the world ... ...English services from all over the world with great sound quality! I’m not sure if it is a fantastic service or if it has spoiled the fun of international broadcasting..
Anyway it works like this, on Sky digital channel 872 they have 30 min to an hour of English programming from many countries all following on one after the other.

The full schedules and list of satellites cable networks etc. carrying the service are all on the site too, its well worth a look. The best thing about the whole service is that if you are not interested in a particular show, you are comfortable in the knowledge that the next one will be totally different..

Quick review of wrn.org (World Radio Network)
I am really angry that WRN is usurped on weekends by some sport channel. I pay good money to Sirius to listen to radiosweden and other countries around the world. I know they have programs on the weekends because they announce what they are going to be. Don't the sports have more than enough channels already. This annoys me no end that you would substitute sports on the weekends. There must be more money in it for you than providing good service like you do Mon.-Fri.
