Truly awful company - and on the border of legality.
The ordering process was fine - but this is one company who loses interest in customer service as soon as you part with your money.

Truly awful company - and on the border of legality.
The ordering process was fine - but this is one company who loses interest in customer service as soon as you part with your money.
For starters, once we'd placed the order, the delivery charge was suddenly £29 more than we were originally quoted. We said OK, but then they took the entire cost of the order (about £800) from my credit card AGAIN - which we only realised because this had gone over ... ...sorted out, they told me the order would be with me within 3-4 working days. 3 weeks later I am still waiting!
Meanwhile I have called numerous times on the expensive and frustrating customer service line. When you finally reach a member of staff, they are rude and merely repeat their corporate script over and over again - quite clearly they have become inured to complaints! I have been promised a callback twice which never happened, left messages ...

Advantages: None Disadvantages: not enought space to write all
I agree with the previous customer completely, pleas read the letter of complaint that I sent to them;
Dear laptops direct,
As a long standing customer of your company I would like to say that your customer support is one of the worst that I have come across. Your telephone operators are the most unsympathetic towards your customers and to say the least does not even possess the simplest telephone manners that would show the customer that they ... ...far I have ordered two laptops on two different occasions, on both occasions when taking the order they are very prompt and helpful but in case of any problem they just have an attitude that they don't want to know you.
I paid for the next day pre 11 delivery for Friday 26 Oct, when the laptop didn't arrive and when I notified your company on one from your company even had the decency to call me back to let me know that there was a problem with ...

I have recently experienced problems with Laptopsdirect. I received a computer which was not as stated (It had been used) with items missing. I was told to return the equipment but the conditions attached to the return was likely to cost me up to 200 pounds. I have attempted to contact them to explain the situation was created by them not applying the conditions they require of me. Their response is a computer generated reply without anyone taking ...

Advantages: Good web site layout and prices Disadvantages: Everything else - lack of information, poor customer service
We ordered an Acer Windows XP laptop, and when it came, it had Vista preinstalled on it. So, we called up and reported the problem. Unbelieveably, the agent who answered the phone tried to charge us £8 for them to rearrange delivery of the correct laptop. After a completely irrational and unnecessary struggle during which no manager wished to come to the phone, the agent agreed to not charge us. So, we packaged up the laptop, and it was quickly collected, ... ...next available Saturday.
Saturday came, and we got a phone call to tell us that they had received the wrong laptop back at their warehouse, but they couldn't tell us where the new one was. They didn't have any information to give us, and told us "if it's not there by 1pm assume it's not coming." Why one earth give us a call if you actually don't know what you are talking about? Then, to add insult to injury, we got an e-mail informing us that 1) ...

I purchased an Acer Laptop at the end of September 08. On arrival of the said item I was surprised that the recovery discs which I had paid £14 for were nothing more than home copies; I also found that I could have created my own from the system.
To cut a long story short.
Initial sales are ok with quick delivery. The after sales is appalling.
I was promised a call from a service manager three times and no-0ne phoned back. I was told that there ... ...when I included this in my complaint to another advisor I was told that my calls had been logged and were being looked at and someone would call. A subsequent call from myself, again to find out why no-one had called , had the reponse that there was no record of my calling.
I was then put on hold for approx 15 mins only for someone else to pick the call up and I had to explain everything again.
Sad for them, lucky for me. My brother, on seeing ...
