When you shop online as much as I do then you need to know what youíre paying. Obviously UK sites have the price plain and simple. However there is more money to be saved by buying abroad. Exchanges rates always differ from day to day so you always need a quick and easy conversion to find out whether that DVD youíre buying from the USA is actually cheaper.
With this in mind I always use the XE currency converter website. One of the reasons is that itís updated every few minutes to cope with any sudden market changes. But the main reason is that its web address is incredibly easy to remember. Anyone who canít remember XE.com will probably have goldfish style memory.
The site itself is simple and well laid out. All you have to do is enter the amount youíre going to need converting. You then select the conversion you want from a drop down menu. Click the button and youíre given a conversion of what youíll be looking at paying in your own currency. Itís also handy for figuring out if the item youíre buying will be below the £18 customs limit. Itís worth bearing in mind that currency conversions will not always be the exact price youíll pay. Banks normally figure in a percentage when doing a conversion and charging it to your credit card. Thereís also bound to be a time difference from when you do the conversion to when your card is actually charged. This depends on the site and the when it charges for items.
The XE site covers all currencies that you may require. The most common currencies are all catered for in the drop down menus on conversion. Thankfully the site gives you option to select more currencies if theyíre not initially offered.
Aside from the converter thereís not a huge amount else the site offers but then the majority of people will be visiting for only one thing. However if youíre financially inclined then there are currency charts which track the historical state of say the dollar against the pound. These charts are easily searchable and easy to understand. Thereís also a news section offering all the latest in currency affairs. Website builders mat also appreciate the free tools that you can integrate into your site for currency conversion. Iím not into this so canít really comment on the ease of use.
XE.com is one of the best converters on the web simply because it does itís job and nothing more.
