Welcome to my review about an email that my dad uses it is yahoo; I think yahoo isn't that good as hotmail, hotmail has more features and it is easier to use and send messages. The free emails are really good; they've got lots of interesting things and entertaining stuff like music, movies
~~~How do you join yahoo? ~~~
All you need to do is just press sign up then you will go to the joining page first of all you need to tell them about yourself like what is your name?, Your surname, gender, birthday, where you live and your postal code, I don't know why do you need to write your postal code, but it doesn't matter. Then you need write your email that you want to make, you need to choose one of these something@yahoo.com, or @ rocket mail or ymail.com, I would choose the yahoo.com because it's more better than rocket mail or Ymail, I think that I know that Ymail maybe it means yahoo mail? But that's what they've got, lets get back to the point after you've chose one of these and wrote your
email you need to check it, if the email is available it will say This ID is not available and they will give you some suggestions and some new yahoo ID's like 1.something51@rocketmail.com or something97@Ymail.com, they only had these two. Then you need to write your password and then you need to retype your new password, under the password thing yahoo is saying that Capitalization matters. Use 6 to 32 characters, no spaces, and don't use your name or Yahoo! ID. The third step is if you forget your password or yahoo ID. You need to write an Alternate email, a
security question and your answer and the last step is to type the code that is shown in the picture (it is sooo simple), but the bad thing is you need to do it in capital letters or sometimes numbers, before you join you need to tick the box which yahoo have written it is have read and agree to the Yahoo! Terms of Service and Yahoo! Privacy Policy, and to receive important communications from Yahoo! electronically. I have also read and agree to the Service. For your convenience; these documents will be emailed to your Yahoo! Mail account and at the beginning they said do you agree? If you agree you need to tick the box, the last step is to press create my account if you don't want to create the account press cancel. Then you will be presented with your account.
~~~How to write a message~~~
All you need to do is to click new and email message and then you will be presented with a blank message, like hotmail its toolbar is like
Microsoft word but there are some Icons word doesn't have. The font styles are Arial bookman old style, courier, Garamond, Lucida console, symbol, Tahoma, times new roman and verdana, some of these I know like times new roman, verdana, Arial and many more. The stuff that I don't know is bookman old style, courier, Garamond, Lucida console, symbol and Tahoma, I will test these fonts and I will say my opinion about them. Tahoma is good, it is sooo much better than lots of these, bookman old style crap, very bad writing, Garamond the same thing rubbish, symbol you can't even read it maybe because it's a symbol, courier not that bad, but still I think that Tahoma is much more better and that's it, to send a message you need to write who is it to, Cc (which I don't even know what that is) and the subject, some times I sent a message with no subject, but I prefer it with the subject, but it's your choice it's only my opinion. Back to the Microsoft word thing the bold, Italic, underline thing is the same on lots of emails, the icons aren't that good but it's much more better than doing them in letters!
~~~Yahoo toolbar~~~
The yahoo toolbar is like a shortcut to your email, when you want to install the yahoo toolbar you need to chose which buttons do you want to put on your toolbar I chose Ymail, food, snap fish, maps, music, news, finance, movies and
sports . Most of them have a arrow I will say what the arrows are for starting from mail the arrow is to compose a message, my disposable address, add disposable address, get yahoo mail on your
mobile, address book, calendar and notepad, now for the food icon the things that are under it is recipe's, what's for dinner, Martha Stewart recipe's, dinning guide (what does that exactly mean? Maybe dinner guide?), special days and holidays (what s that doing here), chef's table and in
search of real food,
snapfish the arrow is used to order prints, order
photo gifts and how snapfish works, next maps
driving directions, get maps on your phone and get map, music, music
videos, top 100 videos, play my video station, LAUNCH cast radio, play my radio station, rhapsody unlimited, foxy tunes, lyrics,
Nissan live sets, Pepsi smash, who's next?, artist info and artist video's, now news the same thing again top stories from AP, some kind of news stuff, more to stories, most popular content, sports,
entertainment, world, weather, business, technology, oddly enough, comics, Kevin sites in the hot zone and many more, now finance(which I don't know anything about it), sorry if you I haven't put that good information because this is my dad's email, but I will carry on talking about it, now how to install the toolbar, you need to search yahoo toolbar or something like that, then you will open the page, and I don't know what happens next because I didn't install it. If you want to search something you can search it from the yahoo toolbar because its web search is exactly the same like the normal
internet explorer.
~~spam protection~~
- yahoo and many other email sites have spam protection some people send viruses in messages so it blocks the spam for your safety, you can make spams not be a spam you need to click not spam and if a spam is in your inbox just click spam and the person who sent you the message will be a spam so if he sent a spam again it will go into the spam section.
~~unlimited storage~~
-With Yahoo mail you have unlimited storage which is fabulous because you can store as much as you like and not have to worry about running out of space.
~~~Yahoo messenger~~~
You can upgrade your yahoo messenger for free from your yahoo mail account to the newer version for free. This allows you to check your email and chat to friends instantly (if your connection is slow the messenger will be fast replying to your friend because it is instant messaging). You can also talk to friends who use MSN; I think yahoo messenger isn't that good the msn messenger is better (I don't use yahoo messenger I use msn messenger). All you have to do is sign into your yahoo mail account and chat from there. I think the hotmail messenger is much better than the yahoo messenger(in my opinion)
~~yahoo games~~
To play yahoo games you have to first sign in into your yahoo ID, there are lots of games available for you to play like puzzle, arcade, board, sudoku, bingo, poker and online games; they aren't that good maybe because it's an email site, in the games there is a chat window which you can chat to the people that are playing the game but I think that it doesn't let you concentrate when you are playing, also you can play multiplayer games as well I like playing online games myself not multiplayer, I prefer playing against the computer players.
~~Yahoo Answers~~
Yahoo answers is a good place to share your knowledge with other yahoo members, you can answer questions from other yahoo members, also you can vote which member has written the best question. If you want other yahoo members to answer your question and the members will reply to your question from
yahoo answers. Every time you write a question you will be awarded with points which you can go higher levels, I think yahoo answers is like ciao because when you write a comment you get 3 points.
~~yahoo sports~~
Like I said in the review I put this on my toolbar, yahoo sports allows you to get the latest sports news about football, rugby, cricket, tennis, f1, motor sport, athletics, golf and some results, video clips, message boards and TV guides (I think football sites are much more better than yahoo sports because the football sites are meant for football and yahoo is meant for everything, but yahoo is better than nothing.)
~~~Yahoo movies~~~
This is also on my yahoo toolbar, by using
yahoo movies you can read
reviews about new films which are in the cinemas and also you can search the film that you want and read reviews about it, you can also read the actors auto biogeography and see their filmography. I really don't use yahoo movies that much (I'm not that much in movies! But I like watching them).
~~~yahoo shopping~~~
Yahoo shopping is provided by kelko; you can search items and buy them from the
internet like
Christmas gifts, clothes and many more, more than 2000 UK companies are advertising kelko, which is really good. Nearly everything is on the internet and in one place so you don't have to visit many sites to purchase the items that you want.
~~~conclusion~~~
Overall yahoo is an excellent email site and hotmail is the same, but yahoo has got more features and it is more entertaining with all that stuff on the toolbar so I will rate it 9.5 out of ten for the toolbar, 9 out of ten for the email look, 7 out of ten for the message style and this site is very popular, my dad has an account with yahoo and he is very happy.
