Advantages: Very good fun and very interesting Disadvantages: None really
UPDATE:
I thought I must update this, as unfortunately due to the current ecomoninic climate, this superbly addictive site has had to close it's doors, this is a real pity as I thoroughly enjoyed messing about on here and I'm sad to see the end of it.
Yes it’s true; my Cock really doesn’t get on with my Goose! But it likes a Blue Tit and ... ...being vulgar and no, I’m not on about bodily organs and sexually transmitted diseases, I’m talking about my animals in my Zoo.

Yes it’s true; my Cock really doesn’t get on with my Goose! But it likes a Blue Tit and Thrush! No, that statement is nothing to do with me being vulgar and no, I’m not on about bodily organs and sexually transmitted diseases, I’m talking about my animals in my Zoo.
What Zoo? I hear you say, have you gone bananas?
Well, my ZigZagZoo, that is! And yes, I have gone bananas!
I first came across “zigzagzoo.com” the other day whilst searching through the various categories and noticed this was mentioned in a fantastic opinion written by Manx, so being the inquisitive person I am, I took a quick look, and then joined up and I have to say, its one of the craziest and addictive online-games I have seen.
The game is a text based (no graphics at all), profit-making game (by this, I don’t mean actual cash, just profit making in the game itself), a bit like buying shares on the stock market, but there is a lot more fun to it than that, you also have to keep your Zoo happy and healthy.
What’s the main aim of the game?
The main aim of the game is to run a Zoo and also make a profit, you see, each animal has a set value and these values change at an hourly rate, more like shares in a company, the prices of your animals can be very volatile, I mean you could buy 10 Elephants for $33.50 each one minute and before you know it they are only worth $27.35 each, so you’ve made a big loss.
Another aim of your Zoo, is to keep your animals healthy and happy, you don’t want any animals in there that can’t stand another one of your animals, as you can actually lose out, as they fight and kill each other, thus meaning you’ve lost the monies you paid out for them, as well as lower the mood of any other animals you may have in your Zoo. There are also vaccinations to be done; I mean you don’t want your Blue Tit getting Bubonic Plague, do you? The vaccinations cost a couple of dollars, but save you from losing any of your beloved animals.
So, how do I keep my animals happy?
Well, each animal has its own characteristic, i.e. Star sign, Favourite Tree, Hobbies, etc, so as you can imagine, you need to buy other animals that have similar interests, thus meaning they’ll get on and make each other happy, they also have feelings towards other animals that can be bought, these include Hates, Likes, Loves, Adores, Worships, Idolises, Fantasises over or Would die for, so once again, once you have bought your first animal, look out for any other animals, that at least Like your first animal, don’t buy any that hate each other.
Here is an example of my Blue Tits profile:
Star Sign: Pisces, Favourite Tree: Binary Search Tree, Main Hobby: Foam bashing, Favourite Curry: Sag Paneer, Lucky Kitchen Utensil: Egg-Slicer, Allergic to: Ants Eggs, Really admires: Home and Away storylines, Susceptible to: Bubonic Plague.
So, as you can see, it’s a pretty nonsensical game and there is a bit of humour threw in which adds to the enjoyment and there are the moods to think of, the more animals you buy that your original animal likes/loves/adores, etc, the more happier your animals will get, and the happier they get, the more chance of them mating.
So, what happens when your Animals are happy?
Well, to put it bluntly, they multiply, yes you keep your animals happy and they’ll mate and produce more animals for you, thus meaning you are gaining extra stock at no cost and giving you a chance to sell them off at a profit.
This will keep your Bank manager happy! Yes, you also have a bank manager to keep happy, and the happier he is, the bigger overdraft he’ll allow you, thus meaning you can expand your Zoo immensely, there is also a referral scheme, meaning any friends or family that join through your referral link, gives you further funds to spend and also enhances your profit margin.
Is that it? What do I do now I have my Zoo?
Well, you can join other peoples Leagues or even make up your own League and compete against other Zoo owners around the globe, or you can make a private league, just between you and your friends. This is easily done and the leagues are very easy to set-up.
Does it cost anything? And can I win anything?
No, it is a totally free to use game and there are no hidden agendas in here, i.e. forcing you to sign-up for various Internet-related schemes, on the winning things side of the game, well, I don’t really know, it appears that certain companies set up “Sponsored Leagues” to which you join and compete for the prize on offer, but at this moment it appears these Sponsored leagues are very rare.
Summary: I enjoy messing about with this game, I find it good fun and pretty well addictive, but no doubt some others may well think the game is pointless and boring. You don’t get any fantastic graphics; actually, as I have stated there are no graphics included at all, it is just a nice and simple text-based game that is very easy to understand. Should you decide to join up, please use my referral name, which is the same as on here “brianlfc” (Don’t worry Ciao, I’m not making money out of this program, its just a bit of fun) and let me know and I’ll accept you into any leagues I set-up (Actually, I think I’ll set up a Ciao league). There are also chat facilities on the site, but I have not attempted to use them, so I can’t really comment on them.
Anyway, I’m off now, to see how my Ox is getting on with my Sea Cucumber or whether my Gerbil has killed any of my Gorillas, Seeya.
Advantages: Easy to play; just spend five minutes selling and buying. Disadvantages: It's hard finding animals that get along with each other. A very simple game.
ZigZagZoo is a simple, text based, internet game. You shouldn’t think of ZigZagZoo as some sort of Zoo simulator because you’ll probably end up being disappointed. A better idea is to think of ZigZagZoo as a well-run, fast and funny “fantasy share” game. The concept of the game is to buy in animals for you zoo, animals that get along with the other animals you currently have in stock, and then sell them off to other zoos at ... ...Well, okay, I’m sure I can manage a little more.
There aren’t any pictures. The various profiles of the animals include an hourly chart of just how much they’re worth – the value changes every hour, remember, think share trading – and what they like. Here’s an example of one of my current star performing animals.

Status: Cheerful
Star Sign: Pisces
Favourite Tree: Lemon Tree
Main Hobby: Artichoke ...

Advantages: Simple to use, engaging, competitive Disadvantages: No fluffy wuffy bunny type creatures
We all know how addictive some internet sites can be, not point any elbows at our good friends here at Ciao. This ranges from just checking the news headlines in the morning to keeping abreast of new technologies. However, the web should not just be used for gainful means. It is also a fantastic waste of time if you have any to spare. If you do, I recommend that you check out zigzagzoo.com.
The idea is a simple strategy trading game. You are managing ... ...Animals. The first step in setting up your zoo is to choose your stock. The kind people at zigzagzoo have provided a list of ideas from which to choose your animals. These range from the sublime to the ridiculous. You can have a farm entirely composed of cows, house flies, trout or elephants, or a composition of these or other weird and wonderful creatures (fairies and Vulcans, but to name a couple of examples!). There are, however, restrictions.

Advantages: You CAN have Britney in a Zoo, Original and Fun Disadvantages: Not the greatest prizes on the planet
Bored with Internet games such as Backgammon, chess and poker that appears on any 2-bit games site. New Internet games with a bit of originality are hard to come by but ZigZagZoo is something a bit different even by originalities standards. The inventor of this site could have been one of two things- insanely brilliant or brilliantly insane. Basically this is a site revolving around you as the manager of a zoo, so you could argue it will be a little ... ...Well that’s where you are wrong. It’s a Zoo run in the style of the stock exchange where each animal is like shares, they each have there own fluctuating prices. So the basic outline of the game is to buy animals at a low price and sell when they are high. There is, however, much more to it than that.
Each animal has a set of preferences to which other animals it can stand being in the zoo with, so buying up animals willy nilly wouldn’t ...

Advantages: Great fun, very fast server, original idea. Disadvantages: N/A
ZigZagZoo is an amazing, but strange concept loosly based on financial trading and the stock market. When you join, you are award 5,000 jungle dollars. These are used to buy animals for your virtual zoo. Once you have started buying animals you can join one of their leagues (see below) and compete for fun or prizes. The aim of the game is to make the original capital into a valuable zoo by buying and selling your animals.
This all may seem rather ... ...Here are a description of the types of leagues they have:
1) Leagues for prizes - It seems they have a couple of these leagues going at a time. At the moment you can either win £20 in one league and a mousemat in the other.
2) Private leagues - as the name suggests you can create a private league for you and your friends.
3) Public Leagues - these can be joined by anyone but do not offer any prizes.
Now you know the concept of the site, let me ...
